Moviegoers are saying
Reviewers keep circling back to the film's tonal whiplash, which they describe as a rom-com that flips into a tense thriller with the balance intact. Leo Woodall gets praise, and the cross-cutting between a recital and a heist is singled out as brilliant, backed by a jazzy score and sharp sound design. The numeric ratings (2 to 5 out of 10) sit oddly beside glowing text, so the enthusiasm is clear even if the scores are not.

Hell yeah man. Sharp, clever, twisty and charming. Plays like a rom-com at times and then switches gears into a tense and stressful thriller. The balance is perfect. Leo Woodall is amazing. The editing and sound design is so, so good. The cross-cutting sequence between the…

I put off watching this for so long. Why?? I loved this movie. It’s stylish like Whiplash, has great characters and just a real heart to it. Sound design and editing were on point. Not much else to say but the main two actors in this were awesome. If you haven’t watched it, you should now. Major…

We laugh, we cry, and we “oh dang!” What a stellar movie. No notes. Was a little sad the way it ended because I wanted more.

PERFECTION. put off watching this movie because i knew it’d be amazing, and i never wanted it to end. it’s as if Baby Driver, Whiplash, and Sound of Metal all had a threesome and gave birth to an unwanted baby named Tuner. this movie is SO good. use of sound in it is CHEFS KISS!!

A very well written film with a great story. This film was kind of similar to Baby Driver in a way. Great story, characters, and pacing. “Tuning a piano is about creating harmony out of chaos, and to do that you've got to be comfortable with imperfection.” - Niki White

Between a like and a love for me. The plot was somewhat predictable (not necessarily a bad thing) but I really enjoyed it. The writing was good, the characters were good, and the plot was solid. I also like the piano.

Pleasantly surprised by this early screening, certainly wasn’t expecting something so far in advance! Really, really great film - the trailer has been overplayed to death since January, so it was good to finally, actually watch it. A really intriguing story that retains engagement throughout. Some…

It was a very good movie, the Dolby digital really helps give an idea of how he hears everything so we can understand the character better.

Tuner hums by on its lively performances and flashy visuals until we get to the last act, which is so awful that it curdled every issue I had been able to ignore or forgive.

As good as crime cinema gets, and one of 2026’s biggest surprises—and undisputed highlights.

What Daniel Roher has done with well-worn forms is to use them as setups, but put them together with a twist in a way that seems fresh and exciting.
