HolliJun 8, 2020This is Denzel at his best, he’s simultaneously charming and frightening. I watched this movie not knowing he would be the villain and not knowing if I was supposed to approve of the things he was doing, which I think made it better because I felt the same betrayal Ethan…

silkymoviessometimes, rarely, a singular performance goes so incredibly hard that it outstrips the relatively serviceable elements of the rest of a film and achieves an iconoclastic, legendary greatness. denzel's acting in this film is one such performance: absolutely goddamn…

I will kill your wife. I will kill your son. I will kill your infant daughter.
Dexter likedTraining DayDo you think it’s called training day because he was training that day? I was hoping for a movie about trains or a movie with a bunch of trains in it. This did have some trains but not that much. If you want a movie about trains don’t watch this. It’s an ok movie with some trains
Mike T. lovedTraining DayReally subversive take on the generic buddy-cop movie format. Alonzo is a very morally ambiguous character. I don’t know if the writers intended for this to happen, but it really increases the quality of the movie; Solid, solid action. Really holds up 20+ years later.

banger of a film. the best denzel performance i’ve ever witnessed. easily my favorite film he’s ever starred in. plot twists were crazy, storytelling was spectacular. some good amount of action sequences, especially the ending was bonkers. camerawork is phenomenal. those birds eye top down…
Tiger Z likedTraining DayThis movie was wild. Denzel was ruthless in here and his acting seemed sincere and real. Distinctive movie. It was too many unanswered questions though. This was a lot to happen in one day. The manipulation and psychology in here was just crazy. Some strange plot twists too.

Universal acclaim based on 459 Reviews
With its unflinching style, Training Day can be hard to sit through at times. But it's worth the discomfort for the adrenaline rush of the plot and Washington's compelling performance.
Claudia Puig
USA Today
This is a movie that rocks and socks you, and has a performance by Washington that's ruthless and scary. But in the end, it leaves you unmarked.
Michael Wilmington
Chicago Tribune
Even when it falls back excessively on coincidence and contrived set pieces, even when it gushes irretrievably over the top in its final act, Washington makes Training Day sizzle.
