Synopsis
The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 5,” and this time it’s Toy meets Tech. Buzz Lightyear (voice of Tim Allen), Woody (voice of Tom Hanks), Jessie (voice of Joan Cusack) and the rest of the gang's jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad (voice of Greta Lee), a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same? “Toy Story 5” is directed by Academy Award® winner Andrew Stanton, co-directed by Kenna Harris, produced by Lindsey Collins and features an original score by Oscar® winner Randy Newman, who returns to score his fifth “Toy Story” feature. Moviegoers are saying
Audiences are overwhelmingly in love with this Toy Story follow-up, with fans crying over Andy's grown-up life ("at this point andy is paying taxes and i'm still crying over these toys") and parents enjoying it more than their kids. The film's message about screen time and real friendship lands hard, though a few reviewers felt it was rushed or dragged in the middle.

Chief Saqif is "meh" onToy Story 5best part of the movie was the femdom dynamic between jessie and buzz
zxki likedToy Story 5A lot better than Toy Story 4, but still nowhere near as good as 1, 2, and 3. I'd say I didn't 'love' the film, but I did really like it or at least aspects of it. The focus on Jessie this time around was brilliant. The animation looks incredible, and I really enjoyed the style format shift for the…

Don’t @ me… This is the first Toy Story movie that I’ve actually seen fully, from start to finish. And I gotta say, it got to me. I think this one did a great job at blending being for kids and also having a strong message for adults. I know the others have been deemed classics and rightfully so,…
Hank Leet lovedToy Story 5Some may say that this sequel was not needed, but I would say that this franchise has still got a lot of heart and passion behind, and I’m really satisfied that a kid’s movie is addressing the issues with kids and tech
Sabrina Bondi likedToy Story 5There's a folksy charm that's still at the center of the "Toy Story" series, which is now like revisiting an old friend. It's become reflexive of itself and its own themes of hand-crafted value and worth.

Wow. Didn’t know Pixar had this in them still. Comedy was perfect, call backs to the old movies were amazing, story was great, subplot was awesome. Genuinely do not have a single complaint. (Besides woody still not being back with the gang). The New trio of “toys” was the best
SpindlyMan is "meh" onToy Story 5Buzz Pasties. Sums it up. I feel like I watched a different film than the majority of these reviews. The story is all over the place and feels very thrown together. The jokes are cringy. The new characters are weird. It felt like a soulless cash grab. This one’s not for me.

The formula has enough novelty to keep this sequel from feeling entirely stale.

Above all, watching the tightly plotted, satisfyingly joke-dense, and startlingly thoughtful Toy Story 5, I felt grateful for a franchise sequel that doesn’t settle for relying on the affection built up for its characters over the past 31 years.

It’s great that they moved the “toy” story towards a plucky female character helping a little girl grow up with Toy Story 5. There are a couple of hard tugs at the heartstrings in the third act to give that something of a payoff. But it’s a crying shame they didn’t have more to say than that in the fifth film in the franchise that made their reputation, at least enough to justify sullying the brand in the process.
