Reality and fantasy are equally shitty except in one of them you are important.
matt lynchNov 20, 2017There’s a strong argument to be made for TOTAL RECALL as the greatest practical effects movie in history.
Griffin NewmanApr 2, 2020Imagine a colonial power keeping a population of underpaid immigrant workers in poverty, exploiting their labor in order to plunder natural resources for personal gain. Lol, what will those wacky sci-fi writers think of next!?

"See you at the party, Richter!" For those of you who haven't seen this film, I have only one thing to say; "Get your ass to Mars!"
RichardJun 12, 2023i love films that pretend that arnold is your regular average joe despite appearing twice the size of most humans

hollywood needs to bring back animatronics that look like disgusting wet garbage pail kids.
BobbyMar 11, 2021*Was a 95, now a 100* Watching Michael Ironside's arms getting torn off while Arnold exclaims, "see you at the party, Richter!", was a transcendent moment for ten year old me. Verhoeven is still the man. What a spectacle, thanks to Rob Bottin and team. Such a dazzling…
SilentDawnMay 14, 2021I didn’t expect to love this as much as I do. After the predator movies made me mad I decided I want more Arnold so I watched this. It was sick Good: - Practical effects are insane - Story is gripping and has genuinely exciting twists - Arnold being cute and…

if arnold schwarzenegger was my husband you would NOT catch me arguing with him 😮💨 this movie was really fun and entertaining, it had me questioning what was the true reality the whole time the practical effects looked pretty amazing too, i loved all the different characters
this movie was so good and has so many plot twists, I’m a massive sucker for sci-fi/dytopian movies in fact it’s my favorite genre and arnold is the perfect actor for those types of movies it was incredible I loved it immediate 10/10 “consider that a divorce”

Another Arnie sci fi action classic. It’s ultra violent fun with a cracking story and a decent script. You’ve got great villains in Cohagen and Richter. Add to that sexy Sharon Stone and non stop action and some truly great one liners and you’ve got an action classic
Unique action-packed sci-fi movie with a lot of interesting ideas and concepts, but not necessarily a personal favorite. I daresay "See you at the party, Richter" is one of the best lines in cinema. Fun watch but I might not watch it again much in the future.

I really enjoyed this movie! Even though there were some scenes that I didn’t like as much, I thought it was overall a good watch :3 I enjoyed the characters, storyline and as a big Mars fan, I was really happy with the setting
Just rewatched for the first time in many years on 4k Blu-ray. Looked and sounded great. Really enjoyed it. The twists just kept coming. It’s the best kind of cheesy. And Arnold has hilarious one-liners throughout. So fun.

The plot, based on a Phillip K. Dick story, is ingenious; and Arnold Schwarzenegger brings an effective blend of machismo and innocence to his role. Too bad director Paul Verhoeven lets brainless violence and tricky special effects swamp the cleverness of the tale itself. [22 June 1990, Arts, p.10]
Starts out as mind-bending futuristic satire and then turns relentless -- it becomes a violent, postpunk version of an Indiana Jones cliff-hanger.
A first-rate action movie, slickly done and with so many imaginative bonuses that, for a time, it feels like a classic in the making. It's not, but it's still solid and entertaining [1 June 1990]
