not just sort of gay, but actually one of the gayest movies i think i’ve ever seen
KarstenJun 9, 2012As Sid (Quentin Tarantino) in Sleep With Me says in one glorious monologue: "Top Gun is fucking great. What is Top Gun? You think it's a story about a bunch of fighter pilots..... It is a story about a man's struggle with his own homosexuality. It is! That is what Top Gun…
JimI might be the only person who's ever noticed this but this movie has gay undertones?????????

mariaJan 28, 2017there's no way this is a real movie
mia lee vicinoMay 9, 2022Inarguably, the most exciting movie ever made about a guy deciding to become a teacher.

there was not a single gun in this movie
cookieSep 15, 2018if that "two bros chilling in a hot tub, five-feet apart cuz they're not gay" vine was a major motion picture but with fighter pilots

First time ever watching this! The exciting parts are awesome, the slow parts are boring 😴 but glad to check this classic off the list in preparation for the sequel im seeing in a few days
The jets on-screen looked awesome, and the quality was pristine for an 80's film. I will say, it was sort of confusing at times deciphering who was fighting in which jet, which made the fight scenes harder to understand. All in all, I give this movie a 6.9. Not exactly a 7 for me

Great Movie One of my Favorites
Metacritic
This is a movie that comes in two parts: It knows exactly what to do with special effects, but doesn't have a clue as to how two people in love might act and talk and think.
Top Gun is not so much a movie in the conventional sense as an escalating series of masterfully crafted adverts: motorcycles, aircraft carriers, pectorals and planes all look as if they’ve been shot for a particularly luminous beer campaign.
The excitement is switched off on landing. Once Top Gun, which opens today at Loews Astor Plaza and other theaters, gets back to earth, the master of the skies is as clunky as a big land-bound bird.
