Like, um, let’s say your driving along the road with your family, and you’re driving along, lalala, woohoo, then all of a sudden there’s a truck tire in the middle of the road, and you hit the brakes—EEEERRRRRRR—woah. That was close. Now, let’s see what happens when…

I’m not even exaggerating when I say my dad quotes this movie at least once a day
MF<3Sep 1, 2021Chris Farley was in only ten movies, and apparently I saw all of them before I turned ten. This was part nostalgia watch and part background noise, but it left me reflecting on a true legend of comedy. So much of his schtick involved getting made fun of, yet he was always…

*Was a 64, now an 80* As a 90s comedy, it's pretty good. As a Chris Farley/David Spade midwestern buddy movie, it's excellent.
SilentDawnApr 20, 2018young David Spade was some kind of babe
KassieJun 28, 2014Even if you don't like Chris Farley's films you can't deny his enthusiasm and dedication to having fun. Tommy Boy was Farley's dance floor and I still wish he was with us. R.I.P. Mr. Farley

Gabe likedTommy BoyEnjoyed the story and plot but even though I like Chris Farley I do have to say this movie is definitely a bit overhyped the comedy is decent but not exactly my cup of tea. This movie had a lot of clumsy comedy where he hits his head or hurts himself which gets old after a while.
- lydia is "meh" onTommy Boy
i guess this wasn’t my type of humor it was very dumb humor like literally and it really wasn’t my thing (parts were funny) in this but i actually did enjoy the plot and the resolution to the climax, and i enjoyed the last like 40ish minutes but the first part was pretty eh to me
MCLevecq lovedTommy BoyAbsolute comedy classic and the best film from the funniest guy who was taken way too early from us. I have so much nostalgia for this movie as it is a favorite throughout my whole family. Still makes me laugh with every watch and a good pay off with a heart of gold story. Love.
Clay Werner lovedTommy Boy9.3 - A classic. Pure goofy, slapstick, lowbrow humor & charm. Probably Chris Farley’s best work, & one of the better comedies of the 90s. It doesn’t all hold up, & parts are for sure recycled, but it never fails to get a few chuckles out of me. A lowkey comfort movie.
- Arsal likedTommy Boy
It follows a straightforward road-trip sales story: an immature heir must save his father’s failing business. The structure is predictable but Farley & Spade carry the film through strong chemistry. From Farley’s chaotic energy versus Spade’s dry sarcasm.
Julie Dolinsky lovedTommy BoyOne of the best comedies of all time. There is nothing funnier than Chris Farley, and adding David Spade as the supporting lead was genius. I can watch this movie a million times and still laugh to tears. 🦌 #fatguyinalittlecoat
Jim likedTommy BoyIt’s good, but I def think some people enjoy this more than others. There’s some that just think this is the funniest movie. I am not one of those ppl lol, but it was still enjoyable. Decent plot and some good laughs.

The movie is an assembly of clichés and obligatory scenes from dozens of other movies, all are better. It has only one original idea, and that's a bad one: The inspiration of making the hero's sidekick into, simultaneously, his buddy, his critic and his rival.

Chicago Sun-Times
Against the odds of a feeble script and uninspired direction the duo do, in fact, grow on you, and there are a smattering of silly laughs, most notably a sequence involving a large road kill stashed in the back seat.
William Thomas
Empire
Their best moments are some throwaway routines; they weep in the car as they sing along to the Carpenters' Superstar. More often, the movie goes for stale, obvious sight gags like Tommy's slow destruction of Richard's precious car. As mismatched-buddy teams go, Felix and Oscar have nothing to worry about here.
