I felt the ending was odd

The trailer is misleading. This is a very slow drama with no emotion. No highs and lows. Lack of detail and large story gaps where it counts. The main characters played their roles very well! They weren't supposed to have emotions. I understand that. But show some emotion from her mother or surrounding characters. What impact does this have on her mom, their relationship and lifestyle? How did the murder scene play out, the look on her stepdads face, the raw brutality of such an act? I am not a fan of movies that leave out key details and scenes from the main plot. The entire movie builds to this one act, and doesn't even show it. Then ends without allowing the viewer just a glimpse of the after effects this has on mom, was she sad? Even a brief clip of news coverage would've sufficed. If u enjoy movies with more questions then answers, this is for u!

Thoroughbreds has a brazenness that’s promising, then, even if it also seems to be a bit too taken with its characters’ amorality. The movie works hard to make your eyes open wide, but doesn’t seem to realize that a squinting introspection can have its own sort of edge.

Finley has created a film that feels original and alive.

The threat of violence churns beneath nearly every frame of this poised and coolly disturbing movie, but Finley's diabolical sense of mischief is held in check — and in some ways amplified — by his discretion.
