Viola Davis & the entire cast delivered...ESPECIALLY the WOMEN! Brava ladies, brava!

Historically it’s inaccurate which can be uncomfortable to view. As a film though, the acting was great and the cinematography was pretty well done. There were 1 or 2 instances of hard cuts that took me out of the experience. I really wish this wasn’t PG-13 because the fighting choreography suffers while trying to balance war and “cool”. There are some graphic things but it feels like a consolation for the boring fight sequences (at times). The soundtrack was very mediocre, there’s no leitmotif that allows this film to stand on its own. The story is also kind of messy as it Jumps around from plot point to plot point which can be jarring. The pacing at first is great but then it starts to drag with it’s non-romance/romance subplot. I had a hard time really enjoying myself towards the end and again with the historical context it feels fake. I don’t hate the movie , if anything I think it’s rather okay. Viola Davis and the cast did a great job with the script, no doubt about it.

Go see the movie! They address what the slavery aspect so move on from that. The cast is beautiful. Don't not see it because it's showing the other/ugly side of things. I could be a softy but tears were dropped at time lol. Go see the film y'all

Best cast amazing story

The film is exactly what you need it to be: An exciting and emotionally true spectacle that required a heck of a fight to simply exist.

Complications of history aside, The Woman King is Black Panther minus the vibranium and with more women warriors, an empowerment tale fueled by kickassery, with battle scenes, ear-splitting ululated war cries and sword fights.
