Poor Larry. Tries to steal a guy's wife and becomes a werewolf instead. Tale as old as time.
Brian CollinsSep 28, 2017“Even a man who is pure in heart and says his prayers by night, May become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright.” I love The Wolf Man. I love its atmosphere (in fact when I think about “the look” of classic Universal horror, it’s generally the fog…

larry got that dog in him
carter.movAug 1, 2020Bela Legosi could appear in every movie for under a minute and I think the world would be a better place. Reviving the Universal monster movie, this film captures much of the fear and lore that appeared on the early 30s films. I found it interesting that Lon Cheney Jr was…
Ethan ColburnMar 26, 2024It is so clear to me that the wolf man is the best universal classic monster, and that werewolves in general are underappreciated. I always felt excluded from vampire fever but as my frontal lobe develops i am slowly freed by the realization that I was a werewolf all along.…

"I believe a man lost in the mazes of his own mind may imagine that he's anything. Science has found many examples of the mind's power over the body." The Wolf Man is a psychological thriller about a young man, traumatized by the death of his older brother, who returns…
ScreeningNotesJan 28, 2014There's a tiny element of unintentional camp to the quaint, delightful classic thriller The Wolf Man, in that it's so very sincere about explaining lycanthropy to an audience who presumably has never heard of werewolves and finds them exotic and alien. The film repeatedly…

i thought larry was kinda creepy at first but then i started to feel bad for him, especially with his super sad/nervous eyes, the wolf man is definitely my least favorite universal monster designs though, all that hair is ewww but the movie was good
Of all the horror sun-genres, werewolves are my least favorite. What makes this such an exception is a fantastic script about family, legacy, and origins. Cheney is fantastic, and Lugosi’s brief time on screen really showcases this as a quintessential Universal Monster icon.

I felt I never got something to sink my teeth into. The protagonist acts creepy to this poor girl the whole time. I know it’s a product of it’s time and was huge at that time. But it’s just not scary or what I find to be worse -it’s not interesting
A very dark ending unfortunately a little outdated and the makeup could have been a bit better but a solid film nonetheless. More tragedy than horror. Elements of fate and future are foreshadowed through the characters in a poetic way.

the most plot of all the original creature features i’ve seen thus far but the pacing is way too slow also it was laughable how the transformation was simply fading shots of his feet
It was not great, I wanted it to be good but just because it’s in black & white doesn’t mean it’s a really good classic movie.
