In this delightful film for children Anjelica Huston pushes a pram with a baby down a hill towards a cliff just so she can catch a kid she wants to turn into a mouse. Scarier and more disturbing than most modern horror films.

People let their kids watch this???
K. Austin CollinsApr 13, 2013I THOUGHT YOU SAID THIS WAS FOR CHILDREN!!! *runs off to clean underwear* Roeg and Dahl are evil bastards. And I love them for it.
DirkHOct 20, 2020Angelica Houston serving witch looks, wanting to kill children, and pushing baby carriages down a hill?!? She is a gay icon there’s no doubt about it.

have always found this film unnerving particularly the young girl trapped in the painting at the beginning. but what makes this such a fun time is anjelica huston’s deliciously grotesque and over the top performance.
Angelica Jade Bastién🪼🌷Oct 25, 2020Should’ve let the kid stay a mouse! I can’t explain it but it’s way scarier to suddenly have a happy ending that feels like it drove in from a different movie and ran over the last two minutes of the story.

Isidora Parodi likedThe Witchesi was so afraid of these witches when i was little, this movie was so good but it creeped me out, idk the vibes i guess
zxki likedThe WitchesPG and not a strong R is wildly wicked. I remember watching this in school. I'm pretty sure they turned it off after 20 minutes because this is horrifying. Not only are the designs and effects good, but the camera work and acting is great. Anjelica plays evil like she genuinely was born evil. If it…
Myrrowyn likedThe WitchesKid has grandma who tells scary stories about witches who hate kids, wears wigs and have square feet. Parents die off screen, which is sad, kid goes to live with grandma. Grandma gets sick so they go to fancy beach hotel for health air. Hotel is also hosting witches convention. The leader is…

The Witches terrified me as a child, with its eerie atmosphere and unforgettable practical effects. While some of the visuals may seem dated or silly now, they only add to the film's iconic, bizarre charm, making it a memorable, if unsettling, classic. Rating: H - 6.9/10
kris likedThe WitchesI absolutely love the witches, one of my favourite Roald Dahl stories. I prefer the 1990 to the 2020 one tho but still an amazing story. Favorites: Quote: Child is not longer a child. Child is a…mouse Character:Luke Moment:The Story about the Witches Rating:8.5/10
CvptvinHowdy likedThe WitchesHell yeah! They gotta bring movies like this back to traumatize them kids! Angelica Huston doesn't get enough credit for roles she's done. Something about these witch movies that are so cozy to watch, even the darker ones, but this one was plenty of fun.

I’ll give it a like just because my crush is in here. Idk why they gave the grandma a story line just to throw it away? Like she used to be a witch? I’m not so sure. Confused on that. A good turn your brain off movie.
Arsal is "meh" onThe WitchesThe practical effects and grotesque witch designs are memorable. Anjelica Huston makes a striking villain, and the practical makeup gives the witches an unsettling physicality. Still, the pacing drags in places.
Jade likedThe WitchesI went through a phase of watching this a lot to not liking it anymore because it creeped me out to not minding it again. I still have mixed emotions to this day

One of many clear advantages this funny and scary 1989 fantasy-adventure has over most Disney products is its live-action visual bravado, evident in both the stylization of the witches and the profusion of mouse-point-of-view shots.

An intriguing movie, ambitious and inventive, and almost worth seeing just for Anjelica Huston's obvious delight in playing a completely uncompromised villainess.
