Despite being too short and not having enough struggle from the main characters so the resolution felt earned, The Water Man is a beautiful film with a stellar cast and a powerful message about loving each other even when time is running out.

Just watch the trailer, and its like you seen the entire movie. Save your money, and wait for it on DVD, Netflix, HULU, etc. . . .

Children absorb everything, good and bad, all the stresses, heartbreak, anxiety of the adults around them. Children can handle the difficult things. Oyelowo knows this and respects it.

The keen affinity the actor David Oyelowo has for his fellow performers is the best thing about The Water Man.

The Water Man is a gorgeous looking tween fantasy/adventure in the “Bridge to Terabithia” tradition, well-cast and designed to tug at the heartstrings. But the feature directing debut of co-star David Oyelowo (“Selma”) is a Bridge to Nowhere — dramatically flat and emotionally lacking.
