hitchcock, but silly
KarstenApr 14, 2020not sure he mines the darkly funny premise to its fullest potential (the whole thing is just a bit too quiet and warm considering almost every character thinks they've murdered someone) but it's a gorgeously made little comedy from hitchcock with beautiful new england…

Had forgotten how utterly gorgeous this one is. If Hitchcock’s name weren’t on it, I wonder if it would now be considered some kind of bizarro cult classic. The pleasant Vermont setting crossed with all the philosophical rumination and the absurdist storyline certainly…
Bilge EbiriJul 12, 2020Thank you Something Someone for the recommendation!! (Please vote in his Hitchcock Tournament if you have a moment) This is Hitchcock out of his element. No blondes, no stars, and no suspense. I appreciate him trying something new, but the film doesn’t come together. It…

The trouble with Harry is sort of a very mediocre one in my opinion of course, it’s not entirely bad since it’s Hitchcock but it doesn’t compare to his previous few efforts but it’s a black comedy which leans more into the comedy and less on the script but there’s still…
SamMay 19, 2022“The Trouble with Harry” is Alfred Hitchcock casually meandering out of his element. Taking a hike into the hills of comedy, he spends the film sowing horror like apple seeds across small town America. “Harry” has the lush visual presentation of a Sirk picture, but the…
theriverjordanSep 19, 2022Action! - The Master & The Fan: Hitchcock's Bumping Road To Mastering Suspense Hitchcock returns to the comedy genre with an odd picture about a group of individuals who come upon the corpse of one of the inhabitants and the mystery of how it wound up there as some of…

Underrated Hitchcock banger from the mid 50s. The dynamic of 4 characters is amazing & the chemistry between them is great. Colour grading & score is great. The plot of having a black comedy centred around a corpse is genius & perfect for Hitchcock. Truly not talked about enough
Decent dark comedy from Hitch with superb fall colors/countryside. The gags were funny, and I enjoyed many of the characters (Arnie!), but there are also little things that irked me - Jennifer's bored demeanor, some pacing issues, and characters making baffling decisions.
