The old prospector is one of the coolest dudes I’ve ever seen
Patrick WillemsJun 2, 2023When I worked at Cinemark it was common for kids under 17 to buy tickets to PG or PG-13 movies and after getting past the ticket booth they’d walk into whatever theater they wanted (we didn’t have assigned seats). This happened a lot when It Chapter One came out. One day,…

The Projectionist - Sep 16, 2015
A masterwork of outstanding direction, terrific writing & brilliant acting, a fascinating yet unsettling portrait of poverty, desperation, greed & its corrupting power, and still retaining all its potency despite being nearly 70 years old, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre…
cinemasauronJul 18, 201183/100 Still a great movie, but not at all the great movie I'd remembered. My heart sank a little early on when Walter Huston launched into an extended speech about how lust for gold inevitably corrupts the soul of every man, no matter how fundamentally decent; that's…
Mike D'AngeloSep 25, 2012One small step for man, one giant leap for Hollywood. A landmark turning point in the business, Madre was one of the very first to shoot almost entirely on location, resulting in an unheard of 6 months of shooting. The painstaking details have lived long, gracefully aging…

or: THERE WILL BE GOLD seeing humphrey bogart on the big screen should be classified as its own unique human emotion
WesJul 16, 2014The longer Bogart stays on screen the darker his face becomes, the whites of his eyes and the pearls of his teeth the last trace of his dwindling humanity, fighting back the growing mistrust. His journey through the film shows a man who has waited a long time in life for…

Well acted, decently paced and solidly directed. Music is quite good & the camerawork & locations are really good. Idk perhaps it was the story that didn’t quite do it for me, a good film no doubt but I wanted to like it more
Bogart’s greatest performance as a man driven insane by greed. A top 100 all-time flick without a doubt, and perfectly epitomizes the golden era of Hollywood.

Very cool I loved the end ! I just founded a little hard to get in at first because the english is very hard to understand
Super well-made film and a great study of corruption and greed. Though it's not something I'm ever raring to rewatch.
