Atom User Reviews for The Thing 40th Anniversary
I absolutely love this movie, but Fathom events decided to show this in the WRONG aspect ratio, and at times looked like someone was streaming a DVD.
There was no special content, quality was highly compressed/soft, AND IT WAS CROPPED/WRONG ASPECT RATIO!!!
Fathom event didn’t show due to some streaming problem . Fathom is continuing to mess up great events . Extremely disappointed
Greatest... Movie... Ever.
From music to effects The Thing always delivers. Seeing it with my dad in theaters is a cool experience. 10/10.
Enjoyed it, but I’ve watched older movies with more care taken over the image transfer and sound quality.
presentation felt cheap
Only issue we had was that the movie glitches during the screening. was off for less than 5 minutes though.
One of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time. Long live The Thing and John Carpenter
Thought it was a great movie, watched it in 83 and glad I went back for this, thank you for this company and the great job they're doing on bringing these movies back !!!!
Glad I finally got to see it in the big screen. Only took 40 years.
terror below 0. a smart clever master piece from John Carpenter's collection. cast was good. Kurt is always good. great special effects for that decade. glad I got to see it in the theater
I've loved this movie since I was a child (haha Childs) but I was born four years after it originally came out, so I never got to witness it in theater. What do you know, a day before my thirty-sixth bday I finally get to see it as intended! Such a great film.
it's an awesome movie that I was happy go for its 40th anniversary first time in a movie theater since it's been made. Epic movie.
Even better on a big screen!
I just wish there would have been The Thing merch at the concession stand like drinking cups or special The Thing popcorn bucket
I said #MUSTSEE because the theatre had projector issues and i did not end up seeing it!!!
i mean come on it's a masterpiece!!!
I loved it. The sound could've been better at the theater I saw it at but it was great to finally see it on the big screen.
Love this film as a child and still to this day.. my favorite all time favorite horror sci-fi extravaganza
Amazing to see on the big screen 10/10. Great job fathom events! :D
Always a great movie
Great experience!
One of my favorite films. Really fun to see this on the big screen. The segment after the film about visual effects was really neat.
Greatest horror film of all time. Relentless tension, wild visual effects, terrifying score, it's still and always will be a horrifying masterpiece.
Aspect ratio was wrong. but the movie is great!
One of my all time favorite films, it was SO great to see it on the big screen!
No special content. Audio wasn't supper great and the movie was cropped not fullscreen
Metacritic
Carpenter's direction is slow, dark, and stately; he seems to be aiming for an enveloping, novelistic kind of effect, but all he gets is heaviness.
Carpenter creates an atmosphere in Thing; it's a weird one, an odd landscape and clearly alien territory, but it's entertaining nonetheless. And for those who have not been to a creep show in the last couple of years, The Thing has some very nasty surprises. [25 June 1982, p.D1]
