How can something be so fun yet so boring at the same time.

I don't think I've ever seen a film with better storytelling. Next to zero expository dialogue in the first act, everything is set up through action, and done so perfectly. One of Cameron's best.
demi adejuyigbeOct 3, 2024i like the part where Reese's partner in the future gets vaporized and it just cuts to him looking mildly disappointed

The special effects were groundbreaking, and very cool made (not in all scenes) but the story felt plain. It wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. I liked the bits of effects and cool achievements they made with this movie for SciFi. But I wouldn’t watch it a second time.
You almost forget the film’s flaws - like the cartoony look of the war-ravaged future. Forget that the premise is silly and the acting second-rate because director James Cameron has the action formula down pat.

Words can't explain how much I love this franchise or even the mind of James Cameron. Everything from the directing to the production to the lore to the execution to the score to the experimenting to the casting to the characters to the dialogue to the catchphrases to the acting to the designs to…

The Terminator stands above up against other horror icons during the slasher era of Hollywood. I would always consider the terminator to be a horror icon rather then an action hero.

Director James Cameron and producer Gale Anne Hurd (both of whom co-wrote the script) demonstrate their storytelling virtuosity.
Schwarzenegger is presented as a lumbering slab of dumb, destructive strength--the image is more geological than human--and Cameron plays his crushing weightiness against the strangely light, almost graceful violence of the gunplay directed against him. The results have the air of a demented ballet.
