Must See Movie in 2014
i guess i learn nothing
Definitely going straight to bed
body horror done right. its intense and something you need to see.
Different.... in a good way. Definitely not what I was expecting. Go see it for yourself.
Satire—- Good message and warning for people who love to make themselves young through plastic surgery or any other means . They eventually become worse as monsters.
OMFG
I’ve seen plenty of horror movies and this was something completely different and unique, I absolutely loved it!! 5 Stars!! If I would rate it more I would, Highly recommend to watch this movie.
Waste of time. Disappointing. Surprising Demi Moore took the job.
This movie has to be the best HORROR MOVIE OF 2024 MY GOODNESS
It’s gross. I love it! Go see it!
This is a different kind of horror movie, although I wasn’t so sure about the ending…. 🤷🏽♀️. Otherwise well acted and plot worthy seeing. .
Different kind of body horror with an interesting twist. There was a lot more nudity and blood than expected so be prepared for that.
Horrible.. waste of time…
I really liked it. It was a good take on societal beauty standards and how the world bases a woman's value in that type of industry on her features . It's pretty perplexing and thought-provoking.
If they put more thought into the shots instead of t*ts and a** maybe it would be a good movie.
this was going to be a 4/5 movie but then the last final section happened and it killed the movie along with its message.. extremely disappointed
Whew ! So many concepts to unpack - considering watching for a second time.
Not to sure how I feel about the ending , but the movie was different, Different in a good way i would definitely recommend,
Fantastic
this movie is wild and I lived it. everything from the makeup and costumes to the effects, acting, and overall theme.
incredible. not what I expected at all.
intense body gore but entertaining
Amazing bizzare film!! Cross between A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Requiem for a Dream, 2001 Oddessy, Psycho, etc. A few medical procedure scene just in case folks get squeamish. Beautiful artistic cinematography. I loved it except the ending was questionable….
Horrible ending and bad special effects.
No words i can use to describe what i just witnessed
Good movie, the acting was good
Fantastic movie loved it definitely not for the squeamish
grotesque, original, hilarious
Cool movie but it’s either you love it or hate it
Definitely not what I expected. Really made me think about the struggles of women and society.
I feel awful 🤙
Awesome body horror movie!
craziest movie ever 10/10
Wow wow wow. I had no idea the film would be so intense. It was so good and gruesome. Demi Moore did a hell of a job in this film. I don’t think I’ll be eating for the rest of night after seeing this. Highly RECOMMEND.
I totally got the concept of the movie and I appreciated the willingness to speak on ageism and the impossible beauty standards of women in the entertainment industry. There was so much below the surface here, however I wasn’t a fan of the gore and blood towards the end of the film. It seemed unnecessary and silly. I felt like I was watching a movie by a teen boy. Great job by the sfx team though.
Crazy movie about that plays on the concept of sexual attraction in relation to a (famous) woman's age. Definitely recommend it for fans of Junji Ito, John Carpenter's The Thing and The Elephant Man.
Funniest movie I’ve ever seen. Total garbage. Go see it
Pretty Girls should always smile😀 You are one😮
It’s was alright , great premise but felt like they fumbled the ending. Felt like they dragged their feet at the end a little.
Metacritic
Ultimately, The Substance isn’t saying anything new, but the extremes to which it’s willing to go make it unforgettable cinema.
The humanity of Demi Moore’s performance, the greatest of her career, gives Coralie Fargeat’s boldest ideas an emotional backbeat.

A bold dissection on aging and self-hatred Fargeat’s latest work is an utter visual marvel and features superb performances from its lead actresses; Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley.
