Moviegoers are saying
The Strangers: Chapter 1 (352313) delivers a polarizing finale that leaves audiences questioning whether this horror franchise should have ended chapters ago. While some viewers praise its creepy atmosphere and heart-pounding moments, the overwhelming consensus points to a predictable storyline with questionable logic about how three killers and a sheriff could terrorize an entire small town into compliance.

It’s easy to imagine the nihilistic avenues that Renny Harlin’s trilogy capper could have gone down.

The only thing Harlin has done here is to remove the element of surprise. Without that, the film is nothing, nothing at all.

Director Renny Harlin does his best to maintain the same level of slow-burning dread as he pulled off in the prior film, but it ends up feeling like a mundane, fly on the wall account of the average day at the office for the two surviving killers.
