β€œ...Because you were home.” The scene where Liv Tyler was smoking in the living room and you see β€œguy in mask” appear behind her (without her noticing) still feels so incredibly violating and effective.Β  I don’t care how many times I watch this, it still makes me…

honestly nothin scarier than ppl knockin on doors n bangin on the doors. knocking n bangin on windows, pots n pans, whatever's accessible. u bang on it, im scared on it. this movie had some bangs for sure but it lacked the punch. some bang, no punch. it banged my heart but…

felt like I could relate to liv tyler in this because I would probably cry if someone came into my house and started playing music I didn’t like

No plot explanation, no motive, no twist ending, and no killer face reveal. None of the elements to a good slasher exist here

i loved the design of the strangers and i thought the conflict with the main couple was an engaging beginning, the music that was playing from the record player was so nice and gave such an eerie feeling, the scares were so matter of fact and unique

Movie is absolutely dogshit. The first 29 minutes are spent slowly walking and slowly talking and when we finally get some action, it’s horrible. Now i still have about 15 minutes left of movie so my review could change, but i doubt it 0/10

Great suspense, pacing and beginning but no motive. They terrorized a couple all night and then killed them for no reason.

It isn't particularly original--for one, it owes an unacknowledged debt to the French film Them--but as an exercise in controlled mayhem, horror movies don't get much scarier.

Bryan Bertino, stages The Strangers' early scenes with spooky panache...But then comes the blood, the shrieking midnight chase scenes, the anything-goes over-the-top-ness. In other words, everything that we liked the movie for not being.

I like watching snakes eat mice just as much as the next fella, maybe even more, but The Strangers turns the gobble-'em-up into an ordeal. It's a fraud from start to finish.
