a classic. i’ll admit it’s very slow paced but i feel like that somehow makes it even more off-putting. it all pays off during the climax tho because the stress while watching it is crazy

Would highly recommend the book over the movie, it does have its slow sections as well but I found it much more entertaining than the movie 🤷🏻

They did a fantastic job making this movie eerily unsettling. You feel that feeling almost as soon as the movie starts, and that feeling progresses more and more. It's not a typical "jumpscare" horror movie, but it is very unsettling, and I honestly love it. 8/10.
Jay dislikedThe ShiningFor years I’ve tried so hard to like this but I just can’t get behind it. The score feels so out of place and dramatic for a movie where not much happens. Shelly Duvall was amazing obviously and was the only reason I finally finished the movie. I do see why it’s a classic but it’s just not for me.
Abby is "meh" onThe ShiningAlmost always when I watch movies that considered as “Classics” I get my expectations high just to be disappointed, same happened with this movie. I get why it’s a classic, but for me it was boring and not much of a plot, overrated in my opinion. Shelly Duvall is great though :)

The unhurried pace, extended dialogue scenes and those sudden, sinister inter-titles (One Month Later, 4pm) contribute to the insidious unease. Nicholson's performance as the abusive father who is tipped over the edge is a thrillingly scabrous, black-comic turn, and the final shot of his face in daylight is a masterstroke...Deeply scary and strange.
