mariaJun 8, 2013My first Bergman feature and it proved to be quite an intriguing one. The Seventh Seal poses some of the most pertinent questions known to mankind and that too in a very bare and straight out manner. It tells the story of Antonious Block, a knight who is returning home…

A horror movie where religion is the monster. The terror of faith being more frightening than any actual creature.

meganAug 13, 2018Oh, this was great. Took me a little bit to get into it and get used to it’s tone (I’m like that with most religious films), but once I was in it....I was in it. Great ending and also LOVED how it was shot. The framing was super interesting and I basically liked looking at…

i am terrified of the silence. there is darkness and then there is the void. i stared into a mirror late one night, in a grotty college bathroom, and asked myself if this was it. i asked myself what total oblivion would feel like when i closed my eyes for the final time.…

Antonius Block: Reveal me your secrets Death: I have no secrets Antonius Block: You know nothing? Death: I don’t have any knowledge. That’s marvelous that even death itself could give us nothing… nothing about specific knowledge… We can believe, hope, and assume about the afterlife, but we would…
Not quite what I was hoping for it to be but incredible nonetheless. However, there are many things in this movie that aren’t clear & I’m not sure what to think of. I guess like Mr Block I’ve just gotta accept that there are things I’m never going to understand and enjoy the ride
Oh man what a watch. I don't even know where to begin. They should add "mind-blowing" next to its genres. As I've been struggling for quite some time with these crucial themes, aspects, and questions, this hit another spot. So many messages, lessons, and emotions, yet I feel-

slow and characters get a bit confusing- but still good nonetheless. was suprised by how anti christian some parts were with a title like this but i like how it delved into everything and the cliffhanger. woulda been nice if their cute family could stay but whateva. rip witch
one of the most philosophical and symbolic films i have ever seen and my personal first experience with legend ingmar bergman. the recurring moments of the knight playing chess with death with their perfect performances and dialogue are beyond awesome and inspiring. excellent

You always have to take classic cinema as it was when it came out. That being said it was a bit slow. Still liked it though because i watched the movie during a thunderstorm and i was buzzed so it was a vibe. Wished the Jof actually knew how to juggle instead whatever he was doin

The directness of The Seventh Seal is its strength: This is an uncompromising film, regarding good and evil with the same simplicity and faith as its hero.
Ingmar Bergman's dark masterpiece effortlessly sees off the revisionists and the satirists; it is a radical work of art that reaches back to scripture, to Cervantes and to Shakespeare to create a new dramatic idiom of its own.
A piercing and powerful contemplation of the passage of man upon this earth. Essentially intellectual, yet emotionally stimulating, too, it is as tough—and rewarding—a screen challenge as the moviegoer has had to face this year.
