Atom User Reviews for The Quiet Man 70th Anniversary presented by TCM
This was the first time I saw this on the big screen; saw it first on TV and it's been my favourite movie ever since. Seeing it on the big screen so justified it being awarded an Oscar for cinematography!
Quality of film on the big screen was really good. Delightful story and beautiful scenery.
One of my favorite movies of all time! Even better on the big screen!
One of my favorite John Wayne movies. It's a shame that the Theaters don't do anything special to promote these special movies. Especially since this showing was near and on St. Patrick's Day.
One of my favorite movies! Loved seeing it on the big screen! I’ve got my husband hooked on these showing now!!
My favorite movie of all time!! It was amazing seeing it on the big screen!!
My wife and I have been fans of 5his movie for many years. Seeing it on 5he big screen was a wonderful experience
Went the AMC in Disney Springs on Sunday 3/13. The movie did not play for over an hour and then played with terrible focus and had lines running through it. The box office refunded their price, so I lost over $6 on the refund. The AMC will not defund the Atom charges. I'll just buy the tickets directly from the box office for now on. Why pay extra?
The Quiet Man is one of mine and my mother's favorites. It was a treat to watch it on the big screen! We had a minor hiccup in the viewing. The projector stopped and the manager had to come fix it, other than that it was great!
This has always been one of my favorite films and to see it on the big screen brought it to another level!
Favorite “St. Patrick’s movie”… we loved seeing it on the big screen for the first time!
I've seen this movie multiple times but only on the small screen. And it's been about 10 years since my last viewing. It was great to see the scenery on the big screen and all of the transitions which are usually cut out for time on television. I sitll love the story and is the only John Wayne movie I can stomach; however, it doesn't age well as it has a few moments which are a little cringe worthy. But I still enjoyed it.
So much better on the big screen! One of the original romcoms - funny and enjoyable.
I love this movie.
#Always a family favorite, we REALLY loved seeing it on the big screen!! Great experience!!
One of the best movies ever!!!!!!!!!
We've changed a lot in 70 years. The actions of John Wayne in bringing his new wife back to her brother would be considered abuse now, but the Quiet Man had just had enough. Good movie. Long.
I've only seen this on television up to now. This viewing on the big screen really was so much more enjoyable.
Awesome to see this movie on the big screen!!
It was Awesome to see it on the Big Screen for the First time and my boyfriends first time seeing it at all! Then we went to The Quiet Man Pub in Dover,NJ afterwards...Great way to spend St. Patrick's Day!
It was so fun to see with friends on a really large screen! Awesome St.Patrick outing !!
Metacritic
The most purely enjoyable of all the great Ford films. [18 Sep 1998, p.J]
The Quiet Man showcases [Wayne] as the leading man in an old fashioned romantic drama. Cast against type, Wayne pulls it off with aplomb, largely because his tremendous screen presence allows him to get away with gaffes that would sink other actors.
If it’s an ungainly variety, it doesn’t suggest directorial sloppiness, but the warmth of oral tradition as it dances around a cluster of themes (belonging, redemption, reconciliation) with the vigor of a yarn spun, porter in hand, alongside an open fire.
