On one hand, I can't believe that The Producers came out in 1967. On the other, well, it actually makes a lot of sense.
mike hotdogJan 17, 2021I had a lot of fun with this one! Mel Brooks’ bizarre off the wall style feels so different from other 60s Hollywood comedies, some still struggling to evolve from the screwball genre that worked so well in the 40s. This has elements of those, but incorporated a dark sense…

Mel Brooks is a genius and this is without a doubt his magnum opus. No film of his surpasses the hilarity and wit of this classic film. (Although Young Frankenstein comes close) 9.5/10
Pure genius comedy. It’s so taboo even for the time that I fully believe it is impossible to get reasonably offended by this film. Tremendous comedic chemistry from the leads and a quippy, sharp comedic wit to the whole thing. It’s the perfect length and entirely hilarious

love this film & it’s probably my favourite atp. THE best mel brooks film ever, in my humble opinion. also love Gene Wilder. it’s so hilarious & could make me laugh even at the lowest points of my life - and it has! (thank u, mr. brooks) overall, The Producers 🔛🔝
Truly amazing. Refreshingly politically incorrect in a ridiculous manner. And Gene Wilder continues to be an absolute gem, and is iconic in this. Along with every other character. Don’t remember the last time I laughed this hard at a movie.

I wish Gene Wilder could have been in the musical version of The Producers, that version is way funnier but the performances aren’t as intense as this version.
did all of it age well? no it's been a while. but, the humor is still there all these years later
