Sad ending. I feel the movie could've gone a bit deeper with the main character's back story.

John Turturro, Steve Buscemi, and Giancarlo Esposito all bring a weary soulfulness to the film, helping it cultivate a melancholy tone without tipping into sentimentality.

This wistful story is best when it leans on these people being people: hurt, broken, and imperfect. Turturro shines, offering a performance that not only gives justice to this honorable character—but also proves that he’s among the last of a certain type of professional actor, a performer capable of giving every part of himself over no matter the size of the role or the genre, place, or time in which it occurs.

The Only Living Pickpocket sympathizes with Harry without forgiving him.
