I went into 'The Oath' blind as to what it's really about, as would most people who sit down for it. From the opening titles on that allude to an epic world-building tale set a millennium and a half ago, all the way to film's close, I was still left at a loss. 'The Oath'…
Somewhat SummersDec 7, 2023Darin Southam directed, starred in, produced, wrote, and edited this movie. The greatest filmmakers in the world understand their weaknesses and work with talented people who can help fill those gaps. At best Southam should have been just a producer…. Instead, he pulled a…
AdamDec 19, 2023Dear writer/director/producer/star/editor Darin Scott, my brother in Christ, It brings me no joy to take such a huge steaming dump on the movie you spent over a decade trying to make. I admire passion and dedication, but I have to be honest with you… No matter how good…

chelseadominoDec 9, 2023Billy Zane’s accent was a choice. Was it Irish? Scottish? Nope, it was pirate, matey. The Oath is utterly bad. I was bored and simultaneously in awe of how much of a mess this movie is. The cringe is aplenty and a “hand”ful of moments my jaw dropped. Yikes.

“Peace…. Is better than war.” Billy Zane talks like a pirate, bafflingly abrupt pro-life propaganda, and that one girl staring into the camera lens from behind at least 17 different trees. A truly inconceivable film. A truly unforgettable experience. JESHUAAAAAAAAAAA
David SantDec 8, 2023Woof. It's not entirely unwatchable, but it's certainly not good. It's like a Mormon MCU film filled with easter eggs only the true fans would understand. I certainly didn't get it (and it's poorly made).
