Not sure why anyone has anything good to say about this movie. I was stoked to go see it based on the trailer, but it was pretty bad. Slow, poor story development... a poor story to begin with, and they didn't do anything to make it any better. it's been a long time since I was so disappointed afer watching a movie. I wouldn't waste your money folks.

The details in this movie are great. Straightforward story line to understand. Many action packed scenes. Good acting overall. An absolute great movie to watch.

2 1/2 hours of life gone we will never get back. With no entertainment value. Worst movie I have seen in years. My husband and I just kept looking at each other like should we leave this is terrible. When it was finally over we just looked at each other in disbelief. Waste of time!!!!

It is by far the worst Viking movie ever! Horrible story/plot too much blah blah blah, and not enough action as expected in a Viking movie. Gives Viking genre a bad name.

This is a movie I will definitely see again! I liked the story, the imagery. It's intense and keeps your attention the whole way through. Skarsgard is amazing in this!

Starts off slow, the Norse mythos keeps it interesting. Definitely don’t come on drugs for this one.

Eggers delivers once again! The man is such a visionary! Love the intensity of his films. Fantastically immersive. Actors perfectly cast. Great performances. I read an article depicting The Northman being this generations "Gladiator". I can definitely understand why. A great epic!

Sucks

The first hour is just too slow, it tends to be hard to follow, and I honestly think it would have benefited from better direction.

Terrible story. I expected so much more from such a great cast.

the young son of a Viking king is saddled with a fateful task of avenging his father and rescuing his captive mother from the hands of the King's ambitious brother. Hypnotic filmmaking with some weird stuff in it, coupled with Shakespearean-style dialog may turn off some viewers, but this Viking epic delivers an engaging story, sincere performances (especially Taylor-Joy), and stirring visuals. I actually would have liked more visceral violence that was in line with reality of the time, but if you like violence, don't worry. This film pulls few punches. A true "man movie", with strong female characters as well.

THIS MOVIE IS PURE TRASH!!

I made it through forty five minutes and walked out. Never again. It was as silly as it was slow, especially the coming of age ritual with the boy. Will not be finishing that movie.

An impressive movie overall. Skarsgard and Taylor-Joy were impressive.

This is for story lovers. It has a great cast, great effects and the mythology was beautiful! The imagery was stunning.

Action scenes were the only thing that was good about this movie. Really should have spent more time in the editing room. Was about 45m too long with scenes that added no value. Screenplay and story was just disconnected and poorly done.

Not good. Not great. Somewhere in-between. Definitely worthwhile.

Original movie with a great sound track and cast. Best with snacks.

Super violent, poor story, plenty if darkness and bad feelings. Animal cruelty and a terrible ending. Just don’t waste your time ;)

This movie is everything I wanted and more from an Eggers film. Did not disappoint!

It was very slow and anticlimactic.

so much scenes that just should of not been there. i thought this movie was realistic but it was just so dumb. would not recommend. i've seen kids in the theater too. Def not for kids either.

it was bad my opinion some of the actor was horrible. I got the story line but all could think bout was True Blood he was a viking in that series and family was killed and he wanted vengeance I wasted my money

Did not really like the ending

this is by far the dumbest movie I have ever seen. It was a complete joke.

Movie was great but seats did not recline had to jump around to find one that worked.

At least from an ambition standpoint, Eggers’ devotion pays off in heaps. The Northman offers a lot to enjoy in what is a lot of movie. It features both see-it-to-believe-it “fuck yeah!” gruesomeness in its 10th Century tale and the kind of historical and mythical attention to detail to be expected from Eggers
