Halfway through this bullshit, the title seemed less like a fairy tale and more like a threat.

I want to use a quote, but there's a never-ending amount, and I can't pick my favourite. I love the way the story wraps itself around the core messages of hope and imagination, and from that alone, I know the book has certainly changed lives. The film's plot itself is messy and inconsistent,…
Joel dislikedThe NeverEnding StoryI LOVED this movie as a kid but now no amount of nostalgia can redeem this movie in my mind
CvptvinHowdy likedThe NeverEnding StoryI'm a sucker for a good fantasy, and I did enjoy going on this adventure with Atreyu. Perhaps I'd love this more if I grew up with it.
- Sam Galvin likedThe NeverEnding Story
Didn’t have a clue what was going on as a kid but I loved every minute of it
Rayel likedThe NeverEnding StoryAHHH I LOVED IT, it was such a good experience and the plot was simple but fantastic. The visual effects were really beautiful made but in a lot of scenes it was kinda horrid, but it was made in 1984 so it’s okay. Little spoiler: the death of the horse was awful
Em Stout is "meh" onThe NeverEnding StoryIt wasn’t really something I could keep my focus on like I cant stare at the screen the whole time but it was a pretty good movie if u have a good attention span. It also isn’t the best quality because it’s a very old film with not so great editing lol
- Kelsey Jay dislikedThe NeverEnding Story
This movie was awful, my god. Plot sucked and insanely confusing. All of the creatures were creepy and only like three of them actually mattered in the storyline. So many plot holes and so confusing. Terrible.
Elena dislikedThe NeverEnding Storyi watched this movie as a kid and i remember it being so weird. i couldn’t tell you anything about the plot except that the kid rides a fluffy dragon in the clouds.
Saint likedThe NeverEnding StoryI thought it was okay personally, but my mom absolutely adores this movie so in my head it’s just her movie so it’s good even if it’s not my favorite

The idea of the story within a story is one of the nice touches in The NeverEnding Story. Another one is the idea of a child's faith being able to change the course of fate. Maybe not since the kids in the audience were asked to save Tinker Bell in Peter Pan has the outcome of a story been left so clearly up to a child's willingness to believe.

Despite the sophistication of the source material, this 1984 film isn't particularly successful: Petersen insists on forcing the superficial moral lessons, and the half hour removed from the film by its American distributors leaves it with a harsh, choppy rhythm.
