Atom User Reviews for The Metropolitan Opera: Porgy and Bess
Gorgeous voices, excellent acting, beautiful music, slightly too long, but worth it! Made me cry.
I thought that in places the opera dragged. The singers were good.
Any other production has to be amateur hour compared to this version.
Very beautiful Live from Lincoln Center Metropolitan Opera House performance.
Great show! Awesome vocals, great performance, nice set
Great cast, phenomenal singing and nice storyline.
At times it was hard to hear. Needs sound engineering. Fantastic singers, dancers and staging.
Absolutely the best Production of Porgy and Bess that I’ve seen!! OUTSTANDING!!! Bravo!!!!
MUCH TOO LONG. Movie started 30 minutes later than scheduled and the intermission was much too long. I felt trapped.
Only see if you're a fan of operas and theatre
Great voices but much of the music was atonal.
Just wonderful. Love these live opera broadcasts. Keep them coming!!!
Amazing performance in every way!!
Beautiful staging and acting. Magnificent voices
Beautiful voices great music that still seems modern.
Wonderful production EXCEPT that the last five minutes were not broadcast where we were. Frustrating. I think I know how it turned, but we didn't see the end. Electrical cut off.
The story is timeless and the cast was amazing. The sound quality wasn’t the best.
Wonderful singing. Emotional performances. Captivating storyline.
Magnificent voices...great staging....beautiful story
Wonderful performances. Could have skipped the intermission.
Terrible picture quality. We could barely see the actors in some scenes. Poor sound engineering as well.
the singing and acting were extraordinary. A memorable performance
Beautiful performances by the entire cast!! Brava performance from Angle Blue!
Our first opera...but delighted with it
About 20 minutes too long and a bit repetitive but the production was excellent as was the cast.
My first real exposure to opera, Wow! The behind the scenes action made me understand what an undertaking it must be to put on a Metropolitan Opera production.
Great background and interviews with the cast.
Performance was great. Transmission stopped 10 minutes before the end. Bad!😞
Beautiful production, worthy of the Met! Have seen 3 prior versions over the years, this was the best.
Wonderful singers and choreography.
I'm new to the Opera scene. This production left me craving to see more operas. The singing was breath taking. Loved the acting, so believable. The scenery transitions were cleverly done. Our screen quality and sound were good. Bravo, Bravo! I'll be back for more Opera.
Great score wonderful singing
Not an opera fan per say but this was a great experience great singing, dancing, orchestra, moving presentation of Porgy and Bess.
This show fell completely flat. There were no ebbs and flow or heights of emotion. Porgy and Bess had no chemistry. Many of the voices were great as well as the dancers.
Better than average plot
excellent singing and the story is quite intense with love and murders and drug abuse
A beautifully done performance and an wonderful cast! Beats heading down to NYC.
I love seeing operas from the Met in NYC. You can see the faces of the singers, which adds to the emotional effect.
I think the idea of a simulcast it great! I felt the play as slow in many areas. The intermission was very long.
Must see for yourself!
