Atom User Reviews for The Metropolitan Opera: Lohengrin
Breathtaking
The sound was great, the acting excellent, great voices. However, I am a purest and would have liked it better if it had been set in medieval times and the knight dressed like a knight.
The sound transmission was faulty, probably due to microphone placement. The orchestra was too loud, and the singers weren’t loud enough. Very disappointing, because this was a terrific cast and production. At the beginning of the third act, the subtitles screwed up, too. The “ Lohengrin” titles were overwritten by some other program altogether. The subtitle snafu was temporary, but the sound problem (orchestra overmiked, singers undermined) existed through all five hours of the performance.
This was the first time my 13 year old attended an opera and we loved it. The interpretation was fresh and new while paying homage to the past. We had a great time.
Wonderful to be able to enjoy gorgeous live opera in movie theatre 3000 miles away. Wish that coffee was available.
Wagnerian Opera, accessible, stunningly gorgeous music, romantic, just FABULOUS
The sound in the theater was too low.
horrible
Tremendous. Thanks 4 all the great opera from the MET. JW
Needed something resembling a real swan. I heard this one week ago live at the Met. Balance in movie good but larger than life. I heard both singers and orchestra well.
Very long
Missed not having a swan!
