The setting was clearly anachronistic and the dance was, at times, over the top but the singing was excellent
All cast members were fabulous and the parts gave them plenty of opportunity to show their stuff .
Great cast. Nero was amazing. Handel needed an editor! 4hrs is too long.
My thanks to the Met for this kind of production - traditional opera redone. The cast was superb - with plenty of acting, choreography. Comedy and pathos. From beginning to end, totally entertained.
Over-the-top satirical production, but it worked (all those da capo arias could use a little help), and the singing was superb. Great fun.
Joyce DiDonato steals the show with a voice that soars.
Outstanding singing - and orchestra! Relevant, funny, sexy. Encore!!!!
