Atom User Reviews for The Matrix Resurrections
I watched the matrix ever since I was a little kid. Loved every single movie. This movie completely lost me. I had so many questions. I didn’t like the story line. It needed more excitement. Honestly was very disappointed.
Should have taken the blue pill instead
Very dissatisfied. They relied too much on the old ones to drive this one. Wish they could make it have more original thoughts and themes
Matrix Resurrections is all over the place. The meta commentary on it’s own corporatized existence was clunky and poorly executed. Furthermore, this movie didn’t have any real risks which left me bored and waiting for the movie to end. Also, at the end of the movie I was left with this sinking feeling of “why”. What was the purpose? Why did they free him? All these questions at the end, and I came to the conclusion that this whole movie was pointless. Don’t waste your time, stay home with your family.
Lazy writing, very underwhelming and disappointing. I expect more from a Matrix script.
Really doesn’t want to say this but this was worst Matrix ever :/
horrible worse movie I seen this year
It was cool to see Neo after all these years but this movie wasn’t that good. Disappointed! First one will always be the best
too slow...dont watch imax
It was very unsatisfying and boring the first and second half was good it just goes downhill after that. not really worth the money.
It started out very interesting as we were figuring out what was going on, but the creativity of cinematography, scoring, and action from the first movie were severely lacking. It just felt like an action movie, not a Matrix movie.
Underwhelming
Best matrix movie yet. Action was a little lacking for a matrix movie but this one really gets you thinking, loved the subdel undertones and shots at other reboots and how it's always the same thing just shown in a different way. This one is not. It is great. The new people that were brought on for this one did fantastic and I hope to see a follow up to this movie to develop them more. All in all a must watch
Nothing new to see here.
Could have done without seeing this sequel
The movie way missing the point of the other movies. It must have been a different writer.
More of an action Movie than a Matrix Movie if u understand me. No Mystery, no making u think, no mystic just an reversal of roles of neo and trinity. they missed the mark on this one they must be making new Characters the front runners in the future Movies
👎🏾👎🏾
For me parts of it was boring and I did fall asleep not as intense as the last one 20 years ago; could have been better. It just didn’t rise to the level of the last one and maybe it’s because of its former characters. No one matches them.
They should have left the franchise alone
not what I expected, should have left it on the third one.
overdid the flashbacks to the original movies
I've seen all the previous Matrix films at the theater and they all added to the story or broke new ground on some level. this movie however was a complete letdown and borefest. I just saw a 7:30 showing and it completely underwhelmed me and caused me to doze off a few times, even during fight scenes. by comparison I saw Spidey at 10:30pm and never lost interest. most movies I don't want them to end, this one I couldn't wait until it was over..
What was that
They knew
I loved the original 3 and this one is just confusing and dumb and no explanation for a lot of things.
when I read how they didn't even tell Laurence Fishburne about the making of this one I felt some type of way. This was a straight cash grab for the nostalgic fans and that's it. they even make jokes about that in the movie. I fell asleep in the beginning but I thought it was cause I was tired but other people told me how slow the beginning was.
Leader of the free world. black, woman, lesbian. What else to say but 5 stars. Hero. No no no. She-ra beotch.
I fell asleep and then woke up to Neil Patrick Harris being the villain. Nice.
Love how they went back reworked the whole story. Now we will have 20 more years of matrix movies.
#MindBlowing
didnt know I needed another matrix but I really enjoyed it
awesome movie !!! 🎬 🎞
Amazing
Lana’s still got it! #WakeUp
I love this new matrix resurrections today.
Much better than the critic's advise.
Interesting movie, they throw in action, drama and take turns under the spotlight.
I was a little disappointed but I had to see it in the theatre I was fighting to not dose off it needed more action but the last 15 minutes rocked with trinity and her bike that was cool went home and turned on hbo max to see it and cud not get into it It’s ok
not the best Matrix yet but i’ll take it …
Love the movie. Jessica's performance was topnotch. Hope there will be Matrix 5, 6 etc.
should have left it alone
It looked like a film students project. Too dark and too choppy! It was a disappointment!
We loved it. Don't listen to the haters. This movie is a gift to true Matrix fans.
3 hr movie with barely any action.
good to watch
Terrible movie. Literally took numerous outtakes from previous Matrix movies to take up many minutes of the movie. Why make a new movie and spend all that time energy and money when you can simply insert many minutes of flashbacks to the original movies. Don't waste your money...
It starts out slow but it finally pick up the pace half way through.
recycled materials
Froze in the theater; really uncomfortable watching
Metacritic
It’s a film of maddening contradictions, missed opportunities and half-taken risks, but it’s destined to be one of the year’s most polarizing and talked-about releases regardless.
You might expect slick remix The Matrix Resurrections to be just money-grabbing nostalgia, but it's also a comment on money-grabbing nostalgia, a refinement and updating of the original film's ideas, and an exasperated clapback to anyone who missed the damn point these past two decades. With guns. Lots of guns. And even a few jokes.
Now this is how you reheat a piece of pop culture. Nearly 20 years after The Matrix Revolutions, which left its two main characters dead, director Lana Wachowski returns to the series with enough self-aware wit, narrative ingenuity, and filmmaking prowess to more than justify the endeavor.
