I can't believe this is almost 11 years old. 'The Lego Movie' is such a perfect title. Remove 'Lego' and it's multiversal movie mayhem, remove 'movie' and it's some of the best Lego advertising I've ever seen. 'Everything is awesome' felt like my brain was masterbuilding, I could sit for hours…
Luis Neira dislikedThe Lego MovieIf I have to hear that song again I swear. You know which song.
Sabrina Bondi lovedThe Lego MovieIt’s the best possible ad for Legos that the company could have ever hoped for, and it achieves that by embedding in its very concept the kind of play that has kept both kids and adults playing with Legos for years.

The visual environment created by the filmmakers (Phil Lord and Christopher Miller of “21 Jump Street” wrote and directed; the animation is by Animal Logic) hums with wit and imagination... The story is a busy, slapdash contraption designed above all to satisfy the imperatives of big-budget family entertainment.

Lord and Miller do great work within constraints, taking pre-made pieces and fashioning them into feats worthy of applause. It's no wonder they made a Lego movie — and it's no wonder it's so good.
