scorsese shoots this like it's the most important event that has ever happened in the whole world and you know what? i actually think it is. pure elation, i felt like melting any time the camera focused on robbie and he was just doing heart eyes to everyone.
MurielApr 30, 2017Bob Dylan smiles in this so....you know it's good.

In which Scorsese recruits three all-time great 70s cinematographers to be on standby to film one of the more joyous looking, sounding, and feeling funerals ever. Some of the self-mythologizing by Robertson can feel a bit much occasionally but then you'll hear Levon Helm…
Josh LewisOct 22, 2026Post finishing Robbie Robertson’s memoir. Lost count of rewatches. I have a problem. No need for intervention as of right now.

- Ben Lecker lovedThe Last Waltz
Fantastic concert from one of my favorite bands. I loved the documentary bits and you can tell it’s Scorsese behind the camera. I loved all the guests and I wish I could have been there for this iconic concert. I don’t think it’s possible to give it a number rating as it’s unique
Mickerdoo likedThe Last WaltzGreat eta for rock with The Band being no exception. Would have liked some more off stage content. Interesting that it’s a Scorsese film.

Universal acclaim based on 36 Reviews
As a document of some of the top musical talent of the 1970s, The Last Waltz has a time-capsule quality that’s off the charts.

No other concert film has ever expressed so fervently the erotic root of rock. Seeing it is the opposite of taking a trip down memory lane; it's more like a plunge into the belly of the beast.

Soars on its purity of form, subdued elegance and tidy professionalism.
