my Queer reading of the Film is that it makes a good case for falling in love with someone who has the same haircut as you
fran hoepfnerSep 6, 2014"In case your aim's any better'n your judgment." An alternate emotional history. Two cultures had a chance at a future together, and they blew it.
matt lynchAug 7, 2020The original score to this movie bangs harder than almost anything other than the Vangelis theme for Ridley Scott's 1492: Conquest of Paradise. Makes me want to run through a wall. It stirs deep emotions in the "dad" centers of my brain. Wes Studi peak terrifying as Magua,…

When I hear the music in this movie I am given a buff on all my stats, powers.
Will MenakerApr 24, 2015Mann films physical combat like dance; the Murnau connection is even more explicit here. And that doesn't even begin to describe the unbelievably beautiful light of this film. Sequences like under the waterfall is Mann/Cinema at its expressionistic best: coupled with Cora…

shot of hawkeye leaping through the waterfall after expressing his love, as time slows down and man blends with nature, is one of the best shots of michael mann's entire career. such immense beauty
Logan KennyJan 15, 2018i'd watch absolutely anything for daniel day lewis and this is proof
cinéfila... 🕯️Mar 30, 2017"the whole world is on fire, isn't it?" an american wuxia movie - The Past weighs heavy on it, whole peoples eroding away like rocks against a waterfall. we are a narrative culture; our culture, like any narrative, will someday end too. the last 30 minutes is some of the…

I understand the white savior complex is not cool but this movie is so good. The traditional depiction of indigenous culture is just amazing (I think, I don’t really know, I’m white) great movie love the action and story
The Last Of The Mohicans manages a remarkable double life. It is pure escapism, traditional heroics writ huge. Yet it is also realistic, each and every inch imbued with authenticity and conviction.

ok film. off for nowadays way to portray indigenous people, but you can see their genuine intent to uphold the romantic bon sauvage trope. the good help the english white, as the bad help the French. the good defends the white woman - but only the white Tarzan can mate with her.
Upon rewatch from my childhood what even is this. The only and I mean only redeeming quality is the score. DDL out here running around like Fabio. If you remember this fondly don’t rewatch it because it does not hold up.
