As a part time tax accountant, I actually loved this premise. Honestly a pretty clever idea to use an art gallery as a money laundering outfit. They also had a creative method for circumventing local sales tax. I liked seeing Samuel L and Uma on screen together again, and…

RESEÑA EN ESPAÑOL AQUI STARRING: SAMUEL L. MOTHERF**KING JACKSON On paper, this has the makings of a blast: a long-awaited (or at least long-teased) reunion between Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson, with Joe Manganiello thrown into the mix as a weary hitman. That trio…

Uma Thurman is contractually obligated to snort drugs when she's in a movie with Samuel L Jackson.

Not that bad! Maybe I am giving more credit than what is due, but the cast really play off each other really well and the story kept taking some unique twists and turns. The script can feel like someone didn't know how people really talked or acted at times. The writing…

THE KILL ROOM was a terrible inflight movie choice - dreadful and unfunny. Uma Thurman’s acting is so bad it drags the movie down. The plot is silly and if you’re expecting action, there isn’t much.

I can best describe this movie through a conversation I had with an older gentlemen in the bathroom of the theater. Important to note that this conversation occurred while we were washing our hands. OG: Hey fella, what movie did you watch? Me: I haven’t seen it…

I’ve noticed that Uma Thurman can have a curious line delivery in other movies, but here I was questioning if she’s actually kind of terrible. Still a knockout though… Money laundering through the sale of art (since the worth of said art can be subjective) is a pretty…

While the supporting cast is replete with performers we like to see — Debi Mazar, Larry Pine, and Thurman’s daughter, Maya Hawke, as a feminist artist — the script, in the end, does little to support them.

While the killer with a heart of gold trope works to varying degrees, mostly because of Manganiello’s unvarnished presence, the thematic heft of The Kill Room is enough to make it an intriguing and entertaining early work.

If screen comedies are poker games, then Paone, working from a script by Jonathan Jacobson, leaves a lot of money on the table, not properly playing the wonderful hand she’s dealt. But The Kill Room, which also needed a better title, has enough funny going on to recommend it if you don’t think of all it might have been.
