No movie will ever tell this story more effectively than Bob Dylan did.
Neill ShaughnessAug 29, 2022This typical 90s styled biopic ain’t much of a sports movie, rather an emotionally strong humane social drama that stays relevant till date for its subject matter. The execution however takes the cliched conventional route, runs a bit too long and lacks any high thrills,…
Michael JamesJul 5, 2021OK, was I the only one who thought this movie was going to be a sports film where we would see Washington boxing throughout the whole movie? By the opening, I was led to believe this would be a new take on sports a la "Raging Bull", but I was pleasantly surprised to find a…

"Hate put me in prison. Love's gonna bust me out." I can't believe this movie isn't being talked about anymore. Easily one of Denzel Washington's most heart-wrenching performances, just wow. Denzel losing the Best Actor Oscar for this is genuinely a crime against humanity
🦍Jan 1, 2021Denzel Washington’s towering performance in “Malcolm X” was certainly a performance for the ages, but out of bad luck (and politics) he didn’t win the Oscar. Washington starred in a slew of high caliber dramas throughout the ’90’s that also sung of his movie star charisma…
chavelFeb 5, 2025Easily the second best movie with Roger Deakins as cinematographer about a wrongly convicted man in which Clancy Brown plays the main prison guard.

Denzel is absolutely incredible in this. The Hurricane is an awful, yet hopeful story that is well executed. With that said, this film is 45 minutes too long. There is so much time spent on aspects of this story that could have been done in fewer time. The beginning of this…
Ryan BinghamFeb 21, 2021FEBRUARY 2021 STAR OF THE MONTH: DENZEL WASHINGTON (#17) The true-ish story of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, a middleweight boxer who was imprisoned for a 1966 triple homicide and spent nineteen years behind bars before the conviction was overturned, is brought to the screen…
theironcupcakeNov 12, 2022Expected a sports film, and whilst there is an obvious through line to boxing, The Hurricane is an excellent drama about a man wrongly convicted of murder based on true events. Denzel Washington was fabulous in the main role, and is easily the finest thing in the film.…

Really mediocre movie. One of the rare occasions where I pause something halfway, realize I don’t really want to continue watching it, then give up wanting to watch it. I’m no expert on Rubin Carter’s life, but it seems like a case of “wrong man, wrong time”.

It’s Denzel innit! Best Actor of all time and more importantly it’s based on a true story which makes you think just what Rubin Carter went through to be wrongly accused and imprisoned for all them years because of a person’s own hatred
A good film in every part, obviously the interpretation of Denzel Washington does much. Thanks to him I was able to empathize with the character of Rubin immediately! He absolutely deserves the golden globe he won!

Incredible true story of patience, strength of mind and justice. Denzel is jaw dropping. Glad someone took the time.
Much better bio drama than Ali. Denzel gives a complete performance in this harrowing tale. 8/10
