The Hill is one of the most inspiring story when it comes to baseball true stories. This movie is the Real "Natural". Tremendous story. You don't have to be a baseball fan to enjoy and learn something positive from this movie.

Such a great family movie! We loved it!

The Hill is inspiring as Christian movies go. Nit sure why Dennis Quaid is in so many of these types of movies? Nice story, especially since it is Texas based. It is an enjoyable movie, fairly well acted and the story line is fairly believable. If your child is into baseball/softball, I think that they would really enjoy thus movie. It isn't as inspiring as Rudy, The Natural, Remember the Titans, or even The Rookie, but it is an enjoyable feel good movie.

Took are Grand Kids and we all loved the story.

The film would have benefited from director Jeff Celentano perhaps picking up the pace a little, and the deletion of some extraneous subplots. But the climactic sequence, in which Rickey bats through the pain while encountering the toughest pitchers he’s ever faced, provides the perfect stirring conclusion.

Overall, The Hill is lacking many of the hallmarks one would expect from a sports movie, pushing aside major events in favor of returning to its religious messaging. This leads to some baffling choices in its character development and storytelling, and those in turn erase much of the tension and emotion from the movie.

The Hill is meant to be inspiring, of course, and to some, it might be, but the vibe is more reassuring in the way that it does not deviate from the standard-issue formula of such movies. It is a cinematic case of confirmation bias, designed to fulfill preexisting values and beliefs.
