Atom User Reviews for The Good Mother
The ending did NOT make sense! The movie was just ok. I was expecting so much more! BUT, it was a free ticket so I’m not complaining.
Happy we got these tickets for free. The movie was pretty good until the end. Like it just ends with no closure or conclusion. It’s like a tv breaking for a commercial and then it just never comes back on.
It was good but very confusing
It was a good watch for free but the story line was predictable.
had huge potential to be a good movie, but ending was wack
Kept me on the edge of my seat.
Should’ve been a Netflix movie. Not the big screen.
Slow start. Nourish. Great twist. Ending a bit unclear.
its ok not great
Waste of time… the ending sucked
I did not like the ending but then again a guess that was the point for it to be something you did not want to happen.
Would not recommend to anyone. Wasn't the worst movie but not movie theater worthy.
Great movie. Love the little plot twist but was not happy with the ending!
The ending SMH
Kind of slow with an interesting buildup. With a very bland ending.
Movie was good at the beginning, story made sense and it was feeling like a fairy tale ending, until it wasn’t. Terrible ending, nothing good about this mother!
The movie was good however i didnt like the ending
Great movie to watch and hang out
Confusing, slow moving. Hard to under what was going on at times. Horrible ending.
Wished the ending gave more than her writing a story on the death of her son. Would’ve been good to see it keep going just ended to quick for me.
Horrible ending could have done better.
Love the twisting ending
It the tickets weren't free I would've been very upset. It was a complete waist of time .
I didn't like the ending. I hope there is a sequel.
Sliw, predictable, terrible ending
I now understand why my husband and I were literally the only 2 in the theatre on opening night. It felt like this film was trying too hard to be something it wasn’t. The bones for a great film were there, but things took a turn in the wrong direction.
0/10 would not recommend
It was cute.
This movie is slow, boring and unrealistic.
Good just not that exciting
Dark, intense and slow. The screenplay is slower and often stretches but the climax leaves the audience confused. Loved how each character had a significance.
I didn’t get to see it that’s why I said no
The title and plot don’t align well. That was a lot to unpack
Predictable but original. Also, I didn't feel for the villain... I only wonder what his reasonings were.
It needed to pick up its pace and could have been a little longer. Did enjoy the cliffhanger
Eh. It's slow. It's alright. The acting didn't give me the feels. Could have been better written
Really great action and investigation. Wish the ending wasn't so much of a cliffhanger/odd end.
This is definitely not a must see movie. Felt like it was missing something and also felt forced. Ending was horrible and felt cut off.
It had the potential to be great…and it was until the ending. What a let down!
Dumbbbnnnatupppidd
Very poor acting, predictable story, scenes are jumpy and doesn't flow. Despite the tickets were free, it's very disappointing and wasted 1.5 hrs of my time.
As everyone has been saying, the ending sucks. Not theater worthy.
It was pretty slow throughout the whole movie, and the ending was very disappointing.
Worst movie I’ve ever seen!!! Can’t believe they would release and put in theaters such a horrible, piece of junk movie like that!!!!
Slow movie throughout and terrible ending. Main character is boring and unlikeable.
Ending sucked
Didn’t love the ending
This movie was literally so boring, i was falling asleep. Storyline was hard to keep up with because it was all over the place. Acting was extremely DRY. Luckily it was free to watch because i would’ve been so upset paying for this boring movie.
The movie was good, but not great. disappointed it was too slow throughout. Too much of making her an alcoholic. thought Paiges moment was too cliche. the no so much of ending made no sense. but make you think what that meant it was meaning. had a few ideas of what it was to be, but trying to be like Inception or the sopranos type ending. after you watched it, was she the good mother??
the ending was not the greatest
Metacritic
Cooke and her character, Paige, inject some life into the proceedings, but the central mystery feels forced, the twists implausible. The screenplay strains for topicality, stuffing too many elements at once into this sad story in a bid for relevance that never quite resonates.
Though The Good Mother contains great talent like Hilary Swank and Olivia Cooke, the predictable formula holds it back from saying something meaningful.
Credit Joris-Peyrafitte for creating the dark, grungy world of the movie, and for making it compelling enough that you don’t want to flee it immediately. You may not want to revisit it — this is not the sort of movie that demands repeat viewings — but “The Good Mother” is a perfectly fine film.
