“I thought you was a chicken” is probably my favorite intertitle ever
sanFeb 18, 2022Nothing can better portray the human condition than two hungry dudes gathered around the fire eating a boiled shoe. Herzog took notes.
CinemaVoid 🏴☠️Mar 3, 2018On this viewing, I was struck by the rigorous logic required to convey information and tell a story without any dialogue. For the plot to work, Georgia has to find out the Tramp loves her, so therefore she has to find her picture under his pillow. Why would she go to the…

Absolutely beautiful. One of the most perfect works of the cinema, in which the desire for gold, the lurch for success, even the hopes and dreams of the future of the average citizen is merely the sometimes (if not often) misguided redirection of the desire just to be…

Felt very poetic to kick off Cannes with this restoration, people from all over the world watching a silent film together where film as an audiovisual medium maybe most potently transcends barriers of language and culture🧡 can’t wait to experience this festival for the…
Sydney🚀Jan 17, 2025What is more valuable than gold? There’s something about this that I can never quite put into words. It’s undeniably a significant work in its own right, with that classic aura that naturally elevates its value simply through its name. Yet, there’s something deeper, more…

Silent films aren't exactly the most entertaining films to watch, but some do hold up, and Charlie Chaplin is proof of that. I do prefer City Lights and Modern Times, but Gold Rush has that same physical comedy, funny lines, and gags. It gets sad when Georgia doesn't show up too.
A classic from 100 years ago is really amazing the work of this genius, how after a century he still makes laugh to the audience. And watching in a movie theater the day of the premiere one hundred years after is so special.

Honestly never expected to enjoy a silent black and white movie but it was quite entertaining! Didn’t really like Georgia unfortunately
This is the kind of film you have to appreciate in order to enjoy the movie and the music. It’s a piece of art.

Movie turns 100 in 14 days and this is this is the first thing I’m showing my child
Seemed a little long for the content. Georgia was a little too hard to like.
