jessica chastain 110% deserved her oscar. oh man this was a fantastic portrayal of a very compelling character and story. didn’t think i would enjoy a movie centered on religious people- boy was i wrong. everything handled incredibly well, and i even felt empathy for them.

i absolutely loved this movie. jessica chastain masterfully portrayed the arc of tammy faye, fully embodying her love for god and the impact she had on modern christianity. the vibrant colors, eye-catching costumes, and cinematography pulled your heart strings in every direction.

Michael Showalter excellently directs this sorrowful yet light-hearted biopic. Chastain proves herself worthy of anAcademy award with this performance. The nuances and mannerisms in Garfield’s performance are exceptional. Make up artist Linda Dowds’ work is excellent and genuine.

I wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised by this one. Great true life story and a good script with engaging characters make this a great drama. Jessica Chastain steals the movie but Garfield is really good too. It’s almost feels like a gangster movie. An epic drama

Chastain in the role of her career, just obliterates the field of Beat Actress nominees. A mesmerizing biopic that makes an in likable character somehow sympathetic. Definitely worth a watch if for nothing else to see Garfield and Chastain’s combative chemistry.

Showalter’s film gives Bakker a sentimental but effective final act, but never fully explains why this flawed but enormously warm human being became an unlikely icon.

No matter what we might think of her, it’s clear that Tammy Faye was one of a kind. Chastain’s mannered plague of tics does right by her in that respect, but she’s been inserted into a template now worn from overuse.
