Atom User Reviews for The Exorcist: Believer
If you’re going into this movie expecting to be jump scared at every chance you might as well stay home. The movie was good for the first half but after a while it gets dull and boring. The two little girls were the best part of this movie. Leslie Odom Jr. was also phenomenal in this movie but I can’t help but wish we saw more than one emotion from him. The movie has little to no jump scares however the imagery in this movie is downright horrific. And if you’re looking for anything close to the original you should turn around because this movie didn’t have it.
True Horror Fan here: Not great. They don't make horror movies like they did back then anymore.
Plot made no sense
bad movie
Overall good movie. Obviously not as good as the original, but never expected it to be. First half was kinda a drag, but the second half was pretty much where the movie picked up and stayed afloat.
way too much talking throughout the whole movie. it didn't feel scary at all
It was pretty good. Nowhere as intense as the original, but it wasn't bad. It wasn't quite what I expected, it started very slow. But I give it a 4/5
It was ok wasn’t that scary I’ve seen much more scary movies the girls acted awesome on the set other than that it was meh 🫤🫤 my opinion it’s not a must see but see for your self like I did
Not scary
LAMEEEEEEE
Slow starter not scary
Entertaining! Got us hooked till the end.
Good movie but could’ve been more scary scenes.
This movie was made as a money grab. Brought back 2 of the original stars and that was the only redeeming factor. $53 dollars and 2 hours of my life wasted.
..disappointed
It was okay,I think it has more potential. Still worth watching but it’s not exactly a must see.
great job with original movie makeup but movie didn't deliver the scare of the original. glad I saw it because I wasn't going to afraid it will be too scary.
Honestly a really bad movie.
I’m a horror fan and a fan of Blumhouse . With that said it was a little slow and drawn out for that studio to create . I saw a matinee so it was pretty cheap . I’m glad I got to see it but I’d wait for it to come to Netflix , Max , etc. The commercials hyped it up .
It was ok. Didn’t really move me as much as I hoped for. The ending was good.
Not sure, does not compare or out do the original movie.
Some Suspense, definitely not scary. There are moments of some creepiness and grossness, but otherwise a much better movie than "A Haunting in Venice. " I jumpy out of my seat once, without giving too much detail (when one of the daughters jumps up at the window).
it wasn't like the first one, but it had some intense.
Great actors, especially the leading young ladies. Nice to see the story line tied to the original with a surprise guest.
terrible
It was decent. Didn’t focus on the possession as much as the people around the possession. The title makes sense because of focus on the belief of the people towards the girls. It’s worth seeing but was different than I expected.
50 years later and the first one is better.
The movie was not scary at all. Not once was the movie even remotely scary. Just creepy maybe. Barely suspenseful. The only reason this movie is getting eyes is because of the name. Don’t waste your time
Not what I expected. Thought it would be more intense. Blatantly disappointing. Honestly
it was I good exorcism movie.. the small twist at the end was nice.
This movie was so good, intense, really scary images and graphic scenes don't always listen to everybody's reviews
nice
Not bad but the storyline was a little all over the place
Kinda boring
It was just a boring build up to the end. The end was good but it needed more throughout
Great date night movie! Original was more scary but overall fantastic movie.
Best part is the ending
It was a good movie. The first part was a bit of a drag but the movie picks up immediately after. It was very different than any of the other exorcist movies you have seen(cant give spoilers). Title lives up to its name & I say dont bring kids to see it just because of the graphics.
Was good till the 3rd act, then the climax got murky with details that should have been addressed more in the 2nd act.
I didn't like it! it wasn't nowhere near the original; therefore, it was boring!
watched this twice and it has a couple jumps but don't be swayed it's a bit slow but a good spin off from the original
Good not great, glad I went to see it. Better than I thought it would be
This was definitely scary to me I’m jumped a few times
I loved it. I thought it was good.
Was pretty good.
the first half of the movie was really good the second half was horrible
Was not what I expected at all
Don’t waste your time
It was good no where near as scary as the original.
Not worth the hype
Metacritic
The Exorcist: Believer has its moments, but we’ve had a half-century of this stuff. And the filmmaker in charge has to show us something new; there’s more to life, and moviegoing, than coasting on cherished memories of projectile vomiting and head-swiveling.
The Exorcist: Believer never manages anything like the deep terror of the original, and the film’s climactic scenes pass by with a lifeless predictability. Been there, exhumed that.
