The first hour is so freakin confident and enthralling that I forgave some of the meandering in the middle. Jimmy Badge Dale vs. a less whimsical Babadook, told without cheap jumps or frenzied edits. A perfect 20 minute ghost story opening that practically functions as its…
83 Absurd to think that this was ever considered marketable in the current horror landscape, but the fox/disney merger made it easy for The Empty Man to get swept under the rug. It's a shame, because this 138 minute horror epic is a testimony to the influences of…
were I investigating a series of bizarre disappearances and murders I would maybe not go to a creepy bridge, blow on a bottle and think hard about The Empty Man
I hope this does not happen to me
Thought + Concentration + Time = Flesh A surprisingly nasty, occult creepypasta horror-procedural filled with an impressively ambitious (almost Kurosawa-esque) sense of stillness, rhythm, ambience and texture that bleeds into this strange, practically cosmic horror story…
The Cinematography and editing are on point. Sorry, some of y’all recommended this to me months ago and I only just watched it. The opening is so wonderful. It’s so confirming of indie cinema to see a big horror movie without big actors in it. Like squid game’s success, it…
Has absolutely no business being as long and ponderous as it is, especially given the destination, but then again the length and ponderousness is exactly what makes it distinctive. A little bit Fincher, a little bit Benson & Moorhead.
Aptly named because it certainly left me feeling empty. I don't get the underground buzz that this has received at all; the scatter-brained merging of occult mystery, cosmic horror and police procedural is so half-baked on every front that it falls to pieces as soon as…
A genuine oddity - a movie made with studio resources and fluent in the language of studio product that keeps refusing to conform to studio formulas. It’s not that THE EMPTY MAN is original, exactly - it’s derivative of about a dozen well known horror movies, including…
The beginning is really good and makes it out to be a really interesting and freaky movie but it just makes no sense whatsoever after 20 minutes👎
Name is dumb but the movie is better. Good premise and could definitely get better with a sequel. 7.5/10
Just a slender man rip-off in my opinion. Had some exiting elements which I liked. Overall pretty okay
There are some really pretty scary scenes in this movie and the production value is really impressive. However, it’s such a stupid plot and wayyyy too long. I was really loving the beginning when it felt like a true folk horror but that ended rather quickly once the plot started unraveling. Ended…
A new favorite! The plot description is such an understatement and a detriment to the movie because it’s SO MUCH BETTER! Like I would trade my first born for a 2nd movie that’s part prequel (finding the hiker, the ‘society’s’ set up) and then part sequel (what was it all for)?!?!
This is genuinely one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen the plot makes absolutely no sense. It feels like multiple people wrote different parts of the money. It’s all over the place and has no meaning to what’s happening the whole movie almost so bad it’s good but just bad
Personally i loved this movie. Maybe more than others because i was high off my gourd but i loved the camera angles and the transitions and the story progression, and the music was phenomenal. Don’t get why so many people didn’t like it. personally my favorite horror movie
This movie is a mix of genres and if you like psychological horror you’ll probably like this. Makes you work for the payoff although I’d have preferred it to be better fleshed out than it was. The film is shot well, quality production and it’s intriguing.
started off good, especially the prologue/beginning. The plot twist was confusing to say the least, I even had a moment of “wait, I think I get it” just to be proven wrong seconds later. Started with low expectations, which weren’t exactly proven wrong.
Good and scary but got pretty confusing towards the end plus was really long.
It stared ok- the plot dragged but it was original
(LOTS OF FLASHING LIGHTS) Its very very confusing AND slow. The flashing lights (pretty much the whole movie) made it hard to put pieces together of whats going on. I don't think this movie is worth seeing whatsoever.
Man the worst movie I’ve ever seen like wtf
