Fantastic Fest #9 I too have seen Princess Mononoke.
DorseyAug 21, 2021Princess Mononoke but the theme is “what if imperialism is okay, actually? Sometimes… if it happens to other people.”

I mean… it looks pretty… I will give it that.
One Less HelperJul 14, 2022This film has the most strikingly beautiful visuals I’ve seen all year in an animated film. I’ll also go as far as to say the score was perfect. I literally fell in love with the score. So why only four stars? The first and final acts were exciting and engaging. The…
NickNov 7, 2022The Deer King has a beautiful animation and score, great voice acting and some interesting lore. But it also has too many subplots, overcomplicated politics and some pacing issues. Not bad nor good, probably more appealing to anime fans.

Made by two former leading staff of Studio Ghibli, this certainly inherits some of Ghibli's aesthetics -- but none of its magic.

Rating: 6.5/10 The Deer King is a visually stunning fantasy epic with breathtaking animation, but its narrative is frustratingly convoluted and overly dense. The film's world is rich and its themes are ambitious, but the story is hard to follow due to poor pacing and excessive plot…
Cute movie. The adoptive father-daughter relationship between Van & Yuna is so wholesome. Beautifully animated. Lots of gore and violence, which can be off putting, but otherwise I like the storyline. At first I was having trouble following the dynamic between Zol and Aquafa.

This movie was sweet in regard to relationships, with characters growing closer throughout. Would recommend this if you can handle gore, understand battle strategies, and sit through long conversations.
First Anime I ever watched and I loved it. The story and pacing were awesome the only negative thing was the ending could’ve been handled better it was a little sad lol

A bit of a slow start but overall a great cute story about a father daughter story.
SGSteven GravesI enjoyed the movie it has some pretty visual and animation going while the music is touching especially the ending credits . It was worth the catch in the theater and worth a buy on blu ray. 10 out of 10 recommend.
