kevintporterThe first half is a bit serious, with the second half a lighthearted trip down easy street. I recommend watching for a time where you need cheering up, and hang on in there till the end.

One of the hardest Best Pics to watch. Painfully realistic i. Its portrayal of PTSD and the effects of a foreign war on small town America. Absolute master classes in acting from DeNiro, Streep, and Walken.
Jimmy Cricket lovedThe Deer HunterA devastating masterpiece examining PTSD; it’s filled with masterclass performances from everyone in it. This is one of those films were I found myself glued in my seat, watching all of the credits as I was sorting through all my feelings. That’s how powerful it is.
Sabrina Bondi likedThe Deer HunterDespite its faults, The Deer Hunter is a formidable work which asks a great deal of its audience. The graphic brutality of the Vietnam scenes are devastatingly rendered, and it is a pulverizing experience.

i finally got around to watching this movie, and it definitely isn’t a movie you just turn on. it’s a hard watch, you need to be patient, and if you are it pays off so well. it’s grueling, yet beautiful. it’s so emotional and the acting is just insane. 10/10
Kward0610 lovedThe Deer HunterOne of the greatest and most emotional movies of all time. The acting is incredible especially from Christopher Walken. This film shows the meaninglessness of war and the terrible effects of PTSD. While it’s not historically accurate, this is a must watch.
Lawndawn lovedThe Deer HunterA literal masterpiece. You could see every characters current thoughts and feelings at any time. It’s Michael’s story, but I loved how every character had their own story in relation to the rest of the film. An absolute wonder in all forms.

I’m having trouble figuring out whether I “liked “ this movie or “loved” it. Mainly because it was a great movie, but super depressing. It didn’t necessarily have that happy ending that you get in most endings.
Formal likedThe Deer Hunter- The Russian roulette scenes were some of the most craziest scenes to witness - The foreshadowing from Angela spilling her drink to Steven returning from Vietnam without legs is insane 💀💀
Solomon Wiberg likedThe Deer HunterYou can feel how lone this movie is at times and I assume this would have a been an amazing movies in it’s time. I enjoyed it but didn’t love it.

It is not an anti-war film. It is not a pro-war film. It is one of the most emotionally shattering films ever made.

What distinguishes The Deer Hunter most is its many rich characters and the size of its vision. This is a big film, dealing with big issues, made on a grand scale. Much of it, including some casting decisions, suggest inspiration by The Godfather. [9 Mar 1979]
