Undervalued Cronenberg if you ask me—and easily my favorite offering from him behind Videodrome, The Dead Zone might not be as accessible as The Fly or filled fleshy body horror, but it is bleak, gripping, relevant, and romantic. In a filmography filled with…
Ian WestNov 4, 2018cronenberg and stephen king AND christopher walken ? come on movie you can be weirder, i know you can
amaya (spooky mode)May 3, 202280 Even with sturdy material from Stephen King, David Cronenberg finds a way to lend a melancholic physical sense to a story of shared memory and prophesy. Contact of the flesh yields an emotional response. From autumn to winter, The Dead Zone conveys a five year coma as…

This is as far from the point of this deeply sad movie about paranoia being thisclose to prescience but Walken’s style — slim cardigans over oxford cloth button-downs and a navy peacoat — is a personal ideal. His hair also grows in height and volume as the runtime elapses.
Sean FennesseySep 10, 2013I always find Cronenberg's films strangely muted when he makes blessings into curses as opposed to his curses being traumatic but potential blessings. Yet it's worth pointing out that this isn't about a fear of change itself but an ambivalence about the value of controlling…

The ICE... is gonna BREAK!
Arsal is "meh" onThe Dead ZoneIt has an interesting premise, but its slower pace won't work for everyone. Christopher Walken gives a strong performance, and the visions create plenty of tension. Instead of chasing villains, it explores whether knowing the future is actually a curse.
James New likedThe Dead ZoneA more accessible version of David Cronenberg’s style and flair. It’s a fantastic set-up and feels very appropriate to being a Stephen King script. Christopher Walken is very good and the conclusion is thrilling. Not Cronenberg’s best, but a lot of fun
- ChungiBoi is "meh" onThe Dead Zone
This wasn’t bad at all, but it did feel very unfocused, with much of the film feeling like it was comprised of multiple, unfinished plothreads, resulting in the ending feeling kindof random and much of the previous plot feeling half baked
Ellis is "meh" onThe Dead ZoneI was pretty invested in the beginning cause it’s a cool premise and Christopher walken is great ofc. But then it’s just like. Stuff happening idk. Different stuffffff. I got bored. I finished it though.
Brenda M. likedThe Dead ZoneOne of the best adaptations of a Stephen King novel. Christopher Walken is phenomenal as a man who is in a coma for 4 years (?) and wakes up with the power of foresight if he touches you.

One of the better Stephen King adaptations, and surprisingly, it doesn't feel like a Cronenberg film other than some of the death scenes, which were awesome
Kaidoz lovedThe Dead ZoneAs a child I never knew why I loved this movie so much. This may be Cronenberg’s best non-body horror work. I’m all for it!
Rick lovedThe Dead ZoneA Great Watch!! This is a classic Stephen King tale. A terrific cast, awesome story, great twist.

By no means a bad film, just a disappointingly bland and superficial one.

The Dead Zone does what only a good supernatural thriller can do: It makes us forget it is supernatural.
Roger Ebert
Chicago Sun-Times
It has some of that episodic ‘compressed miniseries’ feel which a lot of King pictures get stuck with (the book was later redone as a TV serial with Anthony Michael Hall) but still manages a lot of powerful material.
