Saw Chris Pine at a coffee shop, wearing some really great sandals and decided to let this rock agaian on The Movie Channel. I choose to believe this movie takes place in the Tar-verse. Nina Hoss is basically Chris Shiherlis in this. Otherwise dece b-movie/trash special…

The very broad melodrama and anguished tone of this is a bit much especially in its "look what we've done to Our Veterans" opening half hour or so but it picks up quite a bit once it switches modes and starts minutely navigating the bleak, dirty world of privatized NatSec…
Josh LewisMar 31, 2022"We were trained to be ruthlessly adaptable. Use it. We're all mercenaries in the end." So, The Contractor is kinda, sorta daftly written, poorly edited, & clumsily directed. Major amateur vibes comin off of this one, really 😬 Buuuuuut it's also pretty entertaining. &…
🎃🏈NotAnnaFaris🏈🎃Apr 4, 2022Both Chris Pine and Gillian Jacobs fully deserve to be in more movies and shows, but no one deserves to be in such an incredibly mediocre and even more forgettable action movie.

Mister Cap (english/german)Apr 2, 2022A gray, more distinguished-looking Chris Pine is front and center for this modest and small-scale military-themed thriller, and part of the reason I enjoyed it is because of how modest and small-scale it is; it feels the product of some other universe where movies like this…
HKFanaticJul 30, 2022Some people want Chris Pine contracted, So they reach out and he'll be contacted. Who's the imposter? Not dead Ben Foster! Some info might still be redacted.

It follows the rules of the genre as unwaveringly as its hero follows orders, but despite that, there’s a tense, tightly constructed thriller here — and Chris Pine makes a decent play as a neo-Bourne.

While his character is intended to be lost and powerless, Pine seems adrift in another way, too – a star without a proper star vehicle.

The Contractor is decidedly Pine’s film. His performance is as efficient as the script, which Saleh mirrors with a crisp, smooth aesthetic. There’s nothing particularly showy about the style, but it serves the story of this professional warrior working his way through an unfamiliar place.
