a great history about the Greatest Generation. Left me wondering how they did it all, even after watching how they did it all. Brave men, inspiring men. And my teenage grandsons loved it!
Great film, great footage, great story of true heroes
Salute to the 28,000 American heroes of WWII.
I figured my 87 y/o father would've been asleep within the first half hour (let's face it's 8pm). I was surprised to see him wide awake through the credits and the bonus footage at the end.. he never even went to the bathroom. Afterwards, he was just as blown away as I was. He said, "I never seen, nor knew what it was like inside a B-17 before... but I watched the con trails and the Luftwaffe fight with them, from the ground, for nearly 3 years before the war was finally over."
The veterans in the movie were certainly the stars as they continue to carry on the legacy of the Army Air Forces during WWII. The film should have been narrated throughout instead of reading the factual lines.
Missing pieces to the B-17 story. No minorities and little content on leadership decisions. Little discussion about the defensive capability of the aircraft and flight techniques.
It was well done. Nice to see all those beautiful warbirds in the air. I liked the fact that they did mention the unfortunate carpet bombing done at the end of the war that affected German civilians, instead of whitewashing what happened. It was hard to see that part certainly but very important.
A movie that hammers home the reality of what our greatest generation went through. I wish that more of these films could be made profiling the words and experiences of these heroes. Great movie!
My father was a B-17 Bombardier in the Mighty 8th and flew 25 missions out of Horham England. This movie was a wonderful and thoughtful tribute. Thank you Paul G. Allen.
A technological marvel combined with first-person heart-stopping accounts of WWII.
What an amazing look at what the heroes of 8th AF in WWII did to defend Freedom. An absolutely amazing look back using film taken in action. Salute!!
A great movie with original footage updated to modern feature quality. The greatest generation have something to be very proud of. A must-see for any World War II history buff.
a genuine labor of live and worth it to listen to the men who lived through the experience
outstanding
A must see - #neverforget . A moving tribute and insightful journey into live history!
Great movie. Amazing restoration. Love the soundtrack too.
Just ok, not nearly as good as They Shall Not Grow Old.
A must see movie to give you a real feel of what the 8th Air Force and all our airmen went through in WW II. This should be shown to all high school and college students.
An excellent presentation, both artistically and historically. This should be seen by any person with an interest in history, or government policy. Never again so so many young people be put in harm's way.
A remarkable and moving film restoration! Gave me goosebumps. The accounts of the survivors were exceptional.
Good reminder of the cost of freedom and of those who paid the ultimate price. Seeing the Memphis Belle last year at the USAF Museum in Ohio and seeing it highlighted in this film was an additional plus.
Fantastic history here. I came out of this movie even more grateful (which I didn't think was possible) for the bravery and sacrifice of the men of the Eighth Airforce.
A must see really is a true picture of what bomber crews had to endure.
Fantastic journey into the life of a B17 crew in WWII . Lots of insights. Maybe not QUITE as good as "They Shall Not Grow Old" by Peter Jackson, but that would be a very high standard indeed.
Not to be missed.
Amazing restoration. Having seen the original "Memphis Belle", and then now seeing this footage restored it is simply amazing. Really takes you back to the 1940's.
ok, I will be the one. Having recently seen "They Shall Not Grow Old", I thought this production to be lacking given a terrific back story and living commentators. It failed to provide much of the inspiration and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these Airmen. I've learned more and experienced better simply watching the History Channel.
Remarkable restoration of original color combat film, combined with voice-over by surviving veterans.
