Synopsis

    From now on I expect Ralph Fiennes in every British movie. Quality production and beautiful setting. The scene with the veteran missing an arm asking his ex for a handie was a bit awkward watching with my parents, though.

It's far from a poorly-constructed movie, but the tonal issues and refusal to invest in its strongest personalities make it a frustrating watch.

This is a historical drama with a handsome enough period setting and a couple of pleasant musical moments but whose roteness keeps it from resonating.
