Love to see characters in horror movies going to the library to do research! Microfiche! Old maps!

David SimsJan 10, 2019Exquisite haunted house chiller that never loses its effect with me. Super creepy house, absolutely perfect atmosphere, and great cast led by George C. Scott doing what he does best, which is shouting at everyone. This is a super slow burn, but if you’re up for it then you…

Angela FerragutoAug 20, 2018Living in a fairly old house for a decent chunk of my life, Haunted house movies were something I grew up loving right into my teen years, then I dunno what happened but I just couldn’t jive with them anymore... until recently, and The Changeling was a well regarded classic…
Ian WestDec 7, 2021A very gracefully-stylized haunted house movie/conspiratorial unsolved murder procedural crossover with impeccable control over its eerie, lonely, grief-stricken atmosphere. So many fantastic slow zooms/pans/dollys, shadowy corridor compositions, creepy handheld POV…

Yeah yeah ghosts in blankets are cool but have you ever been chased by a cute little haunted wheelchair through the hallways of an old spooky mansion?
CinemaVoid 🏴☠️Oct 7, 2025A grieving father, an eerily empty mansion, and the vengeful ghost of an unloved child. I love everything about this movie. Dust, cobwebs, the creaking of old wooden floorboards—an atmospheric concoction of sadness, despair, horror, and fury that takes over your body from…
Matt!Jan 14, 2025Really loved George C. Scott's relationship with the ghost. Zero parts scared and five parts "Jesus, what now?"

An 80s classic that does not live up to the hype and following at all. A rather generic haunted house thriller with a half-baked government conspiracy subplot, and an overall dull atmosphere. Don't Look Now is also overhyped, but is better than this.
The direction it decided to take for what was prioritized in the film was surprising but not necessarily bad. I really liked the lead and thought several moments were effectively chilling

An ultra-layered investigation haunting movie that is pretty well-paced. The lead gives a great performance and the score is very intense. The ball on the stairs was chilling.
very unsettling ghost story. Good jump scares. A classic for lovers of movies like The Fog and The Shining. Well worth a watch for a cozy spooky night in.

Very eerie, not scary by today’s standards but still a veryyy compelling story that keeps you enthralled. It’s atmospheric which is nice too.
I remember seeing it as a child doesn’t disappoint. Maybe nostalgia but still enjoyed

It doesn't have that sneaky sense of awful things about to happen. Scott makes the hero so rational, normal and self-possessed that we never feel he's in real danger; we go through this movie with too much confidence.
