chelseaSep 19, 2022Sorry to Anthony Hopkins and his family but the most iconic movie monster of all-time is the Bride who beats his twelve minutes of screen time speed-run by almost twelve minutes. She clocks in at like forty seconds and does nothing but turn her head like a bird and shriek…

Look closely and you’ll notice that the monster’s wounds appear to heal. Makeup artist Jack Pierce incrementally toned down the burns and replaced some of the hair, creating the illusion that the monster was slowly recovering. & The bride’s hairdo was supported by a wire cage.
my heart was broken over and over again :( the monster is just a sweetheart i only want him to be happy, i adore him and his little bestie that taught him friendship, they were so so sweet, this is an emotional journey that you want so badly to have a good ending…

despite being titled bride of frankenstein, the bride was not really a character. the story really focused on expanding frakenstein and while i liked that, i wish we could see just a glimpse more into her (but of course none of the female characters were really fleshed out, so maybe im asking for…
Somehow Bride of Frankenstein managed to be better than the first. I love how the monster was more complex and showed emotions. I also loved the Caligari-esque set design and use of expressionism. This is the definitive universal Frankenstein film. 9/10

pretty great sequel that nearly emulates the energy of the original. the narrative isn’t quite as powerful since there’s little to no untread ground, but the visuals and performances are still incredibly solid. she’s clearly alive too
This is actually a lot more fun than the original, though I still find it funny that Frankenstein still has to be influenced by the older, slimier scientist. Ah, the days when the male hero wasn’t allowed to make mistakes.
