Synopsis
High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are reeling from the recent death of their mother and aren’t getting much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.

5.3 - It’s one of the most I’ve seen this before, paint by numbers, nothing creative or unique or risky, horrors I’ve seen in a long time. And it is way, way, way too reliant on jump scares. But the monster is cool & most of my theater was really into it. Maybe worth a stream?

This movie overall had good jumpscares and the Boogeyman’s look and voice was very good as well. The acting was also good especially the siblings, but this movie was just okay. 5/10

No matter how frightening the individual moments may be, and no matter how impressive it is that we only ever see enough of the monster to excite our imagination, and no matter how exceptionally the eerie sound design turns out to be, The Boogeyman never quite gets under the skin.
